Hmmm that appears to be working. I'll look at the code they are using

The Philly area is going to see 2-4" tomorrow and tomorrow night. Might be the first time I'll see measurable snow on the ground considering we had virtually no winter last year (we hit 70 twice last February)Wouldn't count on it. Storm is further south. Its mostly a NC/VA storm this time. DC and points northward aren't getting too much.
Even though I'm the world's biggest procrastinator, I actually did my taxes this morning. Some things even I don't mess with.Ugh don't remind me
Finally, yes, taxes went up for everybody. Everyone here is going to see taxes up at least 2% out of their income checks now. The taxes for incomes above $400,000 a year went up as well. Unfortunately, spending has still not been addressed. Let's face it, people, not everyone is going to like what is eventually going to be proposed to be cut - especially if it involves federal aid. Reducing our spending is going to hurt a lot of people, but at this point folks will have to just deal with it.Taxes are going up a lot more than people think. 2% is the tip of the iceberg and its not just for the rich people. Americans are going to find a rude awakening when they have to start paying Capital Gains and the Alternative Minimum Tax.
As to what is going to get cut, I strongly suspect Social Security is going to be a big, big issue, as it will be a major factor to our debt if it is not addressed. The proposed solution is to raise the eligibility age, which could save upwards of half a trillion dollars. Foreign aid is also an issue. Military spending has been on the table for decades. I suspect some social programs are going to be chopped as well. We have to find $16 trillion somewhere, and it's not going to come from just tax increases.
Sadly its the twisted distorted American vision that people need to buy tons of crap! Somehow it helps people rationalize making foolish purchases that they can't afford. I do black friday shopping sometimes simply because I like browsing around the stores at the holiday season seeing whats in stock. Its sad how fast this country is declining. It wouldn't surprise me if stores stay open on Thanksgiving and even Christmas in the near future.I'd rather shop after Christmas if I had a choice. Obviously, things will be picked over from earlier, but I find decent deals and get all I need without any of the hassles from other customers. Does it really matter if you're the first in getting the latest and greatest item? There's one huge reason why this country has such a problem with personal finances.I agree, plus many online retailers offer even deeper discounts the days before Black Friday, I just don't get the big deal. Supply and demand often dictates how many people want to purchase a particular type of product at any given price.
I am just sad we're about enter that post-New Year's Day period. The time after the holidays just seems very dull to me. I can understand some debate here, but I enjoy the holiday season, so when there's a long stretch without a true holiday, and when it's cold and usually dreary outside, it's just not fun. (And I would argue that Memorial Day is the next "true" holiday. Maybe MLK day could be counted, but certainly not Valentine's Day, and I hesitate to include Easter as well.)Now it turns to boring nights of clicking the refresh button waiting for the GFS and EURO to come in and finding out its not going to snow. But the 384hr will always look good!
