Hurricane Central / Remnants of Agatha Cross Into The Gulf
« on: May 31, 2010, 06:05:55 PM »
Agathas remains have entered the gulf and remain somewhat organized. http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t1/flash-vis.html

Looks like it might have a brief time to develop but there is decent amounts of shear that will probably tear it apart. Models have it drifting up around the FL area so perhaps some rain for those folks.

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Weather Photo Sticky Thread
« on: May 15, 2010, 02:15:58 AM »
Since a lot of us have been taking weather related photos lately, why not create a sticky topic in the general weather area so we can post all of our pics that we take. This way the Front Porch (commonly used to post them) won't get soo cluttered. Anyone like this idea or have any other suggestions/comments?

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / LDL Error on LF

It seems the IS is doing something funky to the top bar of my blue ldl. Its not the same as the other thread in which it fails to appear but appears almost as if the IS is rendering it improperly. Occurs on each local forecast

TWC Today News / New Music Section
« on: April 13, 2010, 07:53:19 PM »
With the tremendous help from our friend Alex (gt1racer47hd) and Localonthe8s, we are busy creating a brand new section for playlist clips. Each playlist will have its own page with songs listed and a flash player built in so you can enjoy the songs right away! Here is a rough example. Comments/Suggestions are very much welcomed.  These two have done so much work on this project and I couldn't be more thankful for his contributions and help! Thanks Alex!

You can also see the raw music database here just not in the fancy format as above. More to come soon!

The Colorado State University forecast team predicts an above-average 2010 Atlantic basin hurricane season based on the premise that El Niño conditions will dissipate by this summer and that warm tropical Atlantic sea surface temperatures will persist.
The team predicts 15 named storms to form in the Atlantic basin between June 1 and Nov. 30 with eight expected to be hurricanes and four developing into major hurricanes, with sustained winds of 111 mph or greater.

"We expect current moderate El Niño conditions to transition to neutral conditions by this year's hurricane season," said Phil Klotzbach, lead forecaster on the CSU hurricane forecast team, in a statement. "The dissipating El Niño, along with the expected anomalously warm Atlantic ocean sea surface temperatures, will lead to favorable dynamic and thermodynamic conditions for hurricane formation and intensification."

The 2010 forecast marks 27 years of hurricane forecasting at Colorado State, led by William Gray. The hurricane forecast team makes its predictions based on 58 years of historical data.

"Based on our latest forecast, the probability of a major hurricane making landfall along the U.S. coastline is 69 percent compared with the last-century average of 52 percent," Gray said in a statement. "While patterns may change before the start of hurricane season, we believe current conditions warrant concern for an above-average season."

The team predicts tropical cyclone activity in 2010 will be 160 percent of the average season. By comparison, 2009 witnessed tropical cyclone activity that was about 70 percent of the average season.

The hurricane forecast team's probabilities for a major hurricane making landfall on U.S. soil are as follows:

A 69 percent chance that at least one major hurricane will make landfall on the U.S. coastline in 2010.
A 45 percent chance that a major hurricane will make landfall on the U.S. East Coast, including the Florida Peninsula.
A 44 percent chance that a major hurricane will make landfall on the Gulf Coast from the Florida Panhandle west to Brownsville, Texas.

Local Forecast / Intellistar Narrations
« on: April 12, 2010, 01:32:26 AM »
I forgot I could do this with my jailbroken iPhone. Here is a rip of the FREE Wake Up With AL App and all of the current condition and temp narrations. These are nearly the same as found on the IS. I don't see any problems posting them since its from a public app distributed by TWC/iTunes.

This includes 437 various current conditions as well as temps randing from -99 to 139F. The file "Mnemonic" is the classic chime we all love.

Enjoy

TWC Today News / Welcome To The New TWC Today/Classics Forum
« on: April 08, 2010, 05:03:43 PM »
Over the past several days , Jesse has worked hard to merge the member base from TWC Classics Forums in to the TWC Today Forums' database and the job was successfully. We are now a merged community. What this entails to is more activity and a bigger and better community as a whole in one place, instead of two. This thread will help alleviate any concerns and help with problems, member merges, deletions, username changes, etc.

For TWC Today members from before the merge, nothing needs to be done on your part, unless you would like your TWC Classics account merged in to your already made TWC Today account. TWC Today accounts CANNOT be merged in to TWC Classics forums, as all posts will then become unlinked to that account. It is best  in the longrun for TWC Classics accounts to be merged into the current TWC Today accounts.

For former TWC Classics users, the login process and user processes have been changed. You will be logging in with your usernames that you had at TWCC, however, you will now have to prepend "twcc_" (without quotes) in front of the username. This was done in a manner in which to avoid username conflicts during the merge. Once you log in, you will be presented with the following screen:

THIS IS NORMAL! It means that your password works. You will need to enter it again and click login. You will then be taken back to the home page, but will not be logged in. This is a security measure in the forum software itself to update the "security" of your password in the database. You will then log in again using the same username and password and you should then be fully logged in. You will be taken back to the index of the forums where it will seem that all the posts on the forums are "new." This, again, is normal, since when your account was imported, a "last active" date was not imported, thus it will seem like you are loggin in for the first time. It is recommended you go in to your profile and play with the settings to your liking and edit fields in your profile as none of them are set. This is a normal process after the merge. You can also change your DISPLAY name in this area too. This does NOT change the username you use to log in to the forums.

Login example:
If my TWCC login info was Martin and the password Weather the new login information would be twcc_Martin and Weather.

In regards to member account merges: If you would like your current TWCC account merged in to your TWCT account, you can request it here, and an administrator or myself will change the post counts in your TWCT account and your TWCC account will then be DELETED. This process CANNOT be undone. You MUST post the format below if you are interested:

TWCToday Username:
TWCClassics Username: (include the new twcc_ prefix)

In regards to USERNAME changes: All accounts were merged in to the forums with a "twcc_" prefix to avoid username conflicts. If you would like the "twcc_" removed or your username to log in to the forums changed completely, you must make a request to myself via PM or here for this too happen. Take caution. You MUST have an up to date email address in your profile. Changing a username requires a reset password for security reasons. A change password link will be emailed to the address on your account with instructions on how to do so.

In regards to account deletion: If you would like your TWCC account to be deleted, for any reason, including just wanting to "start fresh," log in to your current TWCC account, and PM an administrator, or myself, and request your account to be deleted.

Staff on the forums is currently as follows after the merge: Subject to change without notice)

Administrators:
Martin
Patrick
Stephen
Gary

Global Moderators:
Kyle
Tyler
Matt

I am soo excited to have the two communities together on a single forum at last. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please send me a PM or email. Lets have a great time!
