Then why do some cable systems have 2 digital WeatherScan channels?

and they are ripping you off at $15 per HD DVR. Direct TV only makes you pay one DVR free and 1 hd fee for as many boxes as you have you only per $5 per box. Here in marlton, we have Digital preferred package with HBO on one TV, expanded basic on two other TV's, and high-speed internet. In Bensalem, I have expanded basic on all of the TV's, high-speed internet, and digital phone.Hmm that sounds about right. For premium internet (20mbps/3mbps) and digital cable with several HD DVR boxes and service the bill i up to about 150. With your telephone and extra services I can see you having such a high price
And they are not useing the weather star / intelstar for that??Well, there is problaly a Control PC between TWC and DirecTV... Since the LOT8s arnt always on the true :8's the Control PC problaly decodes the VBI, and then converts the cue signal to something DirecTV understands, which then cues the box.Argh, the Local forecast application HAS NOT been launching for the past hour.
But the local "On Demand Version" is working fine. Like the graphics!
Let me guess; the preemption was probably messing with something since it wasn't the regular schedule. I wonder exactly what they use to cue the DirecTV boxes...
The LDL remains off during LF's because of appearance. It wouldn't look right jumping from the local boxes to the national feed with the LDL suddenly on screen.when will DirecTV and Dish get HD stars so they can have a LDL when the 8's is not on?
About Dish's LDL... IIRC both DirecTV and Dish are controlled via the same config file (seprate systems, but similar configuration) so when TWC removed the LDL from showing during the LF's for DirecTV, it problaly got applied to Dish's LDL as well.
They can do a weather scan HD national with a LoT8 for the top citys.Would it ever be possible to show local forecasts using the same way satellite companies present local channels?Well, of course it could. Would they want to do this? No. That's a lot of precious space that could be taken up by other channels. Could they do something on a regional basis? Absolutely. I don't know if they would want to, though. That would be a great decision to make it a bit more local, but It will probably never, ever, happen.
I have 2 of the same WeatherScan IntellStar feeds on Ch.245 & Ch. 845 is anyone else seeing this and is there anyway of this being a problem or being permanent for WeatherScan HD in the future? The cable may just renumbering channels.
Just to let you guys know, the radar returns display underneath the city location labels. It doesn't look bad at all actually. Sorry for the poor image quality as I just snapped a picture with my cell phone.
I do think when all is said and done, I would expect more localized STARs than just the metropolitan area as a whole covered (to match the SD STARs). This includes of course a CC site. I can live with Central Park being that, but White Plains should be it if a new localized STAR is created for me specifically.
Maybe we'll still see some metropolitan area elements still used like the forecast maps for New York City, the Hudson Valley, Long Island and central New Jersey. The daypart forecast pages I can see, too, but perhaps the more important locations like Newark instead of Parsippany. The other three (Central Park, Islip and White Plains) are perfect because they're in my mind the best locations for each part of the metropolitan area. The getaway forecast locations are the same as what I have on my SD STAR, so I see no need for adjustments.
I am surprised there are no animated weather icons for the HD STAR, but given the smaller size icon for each location in the current conditions and forecast pages, perhaps it would be too difficult to detect on the screen. Who knows.
