Will there be a Satellite HD star?
Satellite weather scan? HD?

As a DISH customer myself, I really don't care. I agree with DISH's reasons for doing this, and I don't think that TWC is worth that extra penny per month...if that's what it is. I'll have a real rant on my blog. Here's your disclaimer: there'll be a LOT of <censored>s.
EDIT: Posted.
Ratings are wayyyy too low for a Weatherscan HD, buddy.maybe for directv It will nice to have 24/7 Weatherscan there for all top us citys looping on one channel.
I agree, nice catch. While Directv's "weather on the 8s" is not as complete as the cable version it is far superior to what DISH boasted about in late 2006 and never pulled off. I hope that one day Directv will be able to come closer to the cable version. One thing I wish Dtv would do soon is to close the HD version the same way the SD version closes with the national radar loops.TWC will have to change there config. may when the HD star comes out. Direct tv does have a SD star.
what bandwidth you can fit 2-3 HD channels in space of 1 analog.TWC, along with most of the other channels above 25, went digital in Bensalem in October, but ironically Weatherscan is still on analog (likely for testing purposes).Probably don't want to waste the bandwidth.
Supposedly, Comcast is moving their expanded basic lineup to all digital within the next two months here in Bucks County (including TWC, which will be gone on September 1). I have a question though, would I be able to still view these channels with my digital tuner, or would I still have to hook that up to their DTA's as well?for now but soon they will trun on privacy mode and force you to get a cable box , cable card / tur2way / dta to view.
When the HD local forecast rolls out nationwide, are all the units going to be regionalized like how the NYC-based system is configured, with forecasts for several different cities and multiple maps throughout the metropolitan area?maybe the regionalized view is a test for weather scan HD.
Does not have anything to do with analog cable the JR and 4000 use the analog satellite to get there data and you can put like 4-5 HD in the place of one analog satellite feed.from this email about star enhancementsQuoteAlex-
Star software enhancements happen all the time. Since I am not on the engineering side of the business, I do not know exactly what they are or when they occur. Sometimes these changes are visible to the consumer, however often they are not. We anticipate phasing out the older model Stars (XLs and 4000s) over the next couple of years due to their age, reliability issues and the high cost or maintenance. More importantly however, contrary to your feelings about the XL, most people would prefer the better graphics, radar and detail that the IStar offers.
Maybe this has something to do with analog cable. The FCC will be discontinuing analog cable in 2012. I don't think neither the Juniors, 4000s, or XLs are able transmit a output signal through the digital cable signal. The last major upgrade for the 4000s and Juniors came around 2002 when TWC discontinued using NWS forecasts. Maybe this may be the last version of both the 4000s and Juniors (possibly the XL too).
They do have a SD star at there headend.1. They may of been waiting for the weather star HD to be at there headend. You cant use a STAR for satellite customers
2. This a just a test and they just reused the old one with a new HD coming soon.
3. A full HD one will come with the HD gui and or the NEW direct tv tivo HD.
Exactamente.
Terrible job indeed, maybe if they paid more attention then they would of did a better job.1. They may of been waiting for the weather star HD to be at there headend.
all that time for an SD mirror image? TWC what were you thinking?

I have a question though, would I be able to still view these channels with my digital tuner, or would I still have to hook that up to their DTA's as well?comcast got there way with fcc so likey you will need a DTA, cable box, or cable card to get any thing other then OTA.
This maybe this is a meant for Hotels cable system (aka a lot of analog and no digital at all) and they are useing a lot older stuff in the head end and no one wants to pay for TWC ad space. What? I'm confused.
