Everything Else TWC / Re: OCM Had a little accedent?

I actually have the audio clip, not the video though. IIRC, it was just maps being played over the audio. Clip attatched...

When do you think you will be able to post the Evening Edition fiasco, if you don't mind me asking?

Awesome, I appreciate both of you guy's hard work. That is truly a very rare occurrence; in fact, the only time I can recall an OCM's coughing leading into music segments was in 2006 when Sarah Libby had a difficult time recovering from a coughing spell and the control room ended up playing nearly the entire 05-08 Weather Center bumper in her stead.

Can't wait to see your clips, post them whenever possible would be fantastic!  B)  :thrilled:

I already made a topic about this. Im praying someone got it on tape because there was about two whole minutes of Evening Edition music played in his stead.

Did anyone catch what happened at 1:04AM ET? Carl Parker having a really tough time (coughing)...looks like he may be very sick (towards the end of the segment). Anyone get it on tape?? About a 2 minute FULL CLIP of EE music! :)

General Discussion / Your Thoughts on the December 21, 2012 Conspiracy
« on: December 22, 2008, 08:56:34 PM »
Hey Gang! First off, happy holidays to you all. Hope you are all enjoying the winter break and having a great time with family and friends.

Anywho, these past few days of boredom have led me to watching this special on The History Channel, which can also be viewed here:

(SKIP AHEAD UNTIL ABOUT 1:50 TO GET THE JIST OF THE VIDEO -- OR JUST READ MY POST  :bleh: )

For those of you who have yet to be familiar with this topic, scholars, historians and even scientists are now beginning to put a great deal of attention on the day 12/21/12 (winter solstice 2012).

This is what I've learned/taken from the video:
According to modern interpretation of the research, Ancient Mayan prophecies based on astronomical observations say that 12/21/12 will have significant importance. It's the day that the Mayan calender ends and completes it's full cycle...AND, modern astronomy (to this day) has indicated that GALACTIC ALIGNMENT will take place on this SAME day that the Mayan calender ends.

Apparently, Galactic Alignment is the alignment of the December solstice sun with the Galactic equator. This has become more important event due to the fact that in 2001 NASA did in fact discover a black hole in the middle of our galaxy, which makes the Galactic equator have much more importance and affects on Earth.

Initially, Galactic Alignment occurs every 26,000 years and the next alignment is expected to occur on the winter solstice of 2012 according to not only NASA, but also, eerily, the Mayan prophecies as well.

The video explains more about this, and will explain it better than I can of course. I highly suggest you watch.
And, according to FOX NEWS, many people actually are falling for this conspiracy:

So, my question to this message board is:
Do you believe in this, or do you think it's all a bunch of fluffed-up crap that is used to put programming on the history channel? Do you believe that science can really back these theories? Anything else you should point out about this conspiracy topic, please point it out!

Thanks guys,
Jae

Who has been working EEWC this week? Sharon solo?

This is a silly thread. Why would you bother guessing the fate of people's jobs?   :hammer:

Indeed. Props though to the forecast of the termination of Dave, Eboni and Cheryl because you are indeed correct; their bios have all disappeared from weather.com.

I saw Tetiana Anderson reporting this morning on YWT. I thought that someone posted here that she was included in the Nov 30 lay-offs.  :whistling:

Ah, indeed.  I thought you guys were reffering to 6-7 OCMs leaving before and excluding this latest job cut event.

You know, makes you wonder if we will see some new faces pop up anytime soon. TWC is already shorthanded and now by laying off 3 more main subsititutes they will really be desperate. I'm thinking we either see 1) new personalities hit the airwaves, 2) more solo (one-OCM) anchored shows, 3) cutting more live time into programming, or maybe even 4) a shift in schedule of main anchors for shows...

Guess we'll have to wait and see

Programming and Graphics / Re: Al Roker coming to TWC?
« on: November 30, 2008, 09:34:55 PM »
Wow...  You know, this is believeable. Why?... Because TWC has been very shorthanded for the year or so. It seems as if they loose OCMs and never replace them with other personalities. And now that they have laid off even MORE personalities makes you wonder how TWC will juggle regular programming anchors as well as substitute anchors (think of it this way -- Dave, Eboni and Cheryl serve as subs and they are the first ones in when a regular anchor is out [this weekend, for example]).

We'll have to see if this man comes to TWC, or moreover, if anymore new personalities come to the channel anytime soon....
