I noticed at 2:52am ET the local forecast aired then at 2:55am Hurricane Force started.
Any reason why it aired 5 minuets early?

On Sunday they stayed live all day and today Heather and Todd are on at 11am3pm which should mean the 2nd edition of Day Planner will air 3pm-7pm.

On the HD feed at 5:43 pm the program video was shrunk to have more room on the bottom.
There was a lower third on the screen giving forecasts by region.
I checked the SD feed and the video was regular 4:3 letterboxed. It had no L3 giving the regional forecasts.
Anyone know why only the HD feed had it?
At 5:48pm was the regular local on the 8's LDL.

Today on the 11am-2pm editions of Day Planner they were the DMC and the old green screen.
2pm-5pm they were back in the HD studio.
On PM edition Monday and tonight they have not been using the expert desk area in the old Global Forecast Center.
They have moved Jim into the HD studio and Dr. Forbes is using the DMC studio.

The DMC is back in use today.
TWC Radio's Scott Lawrimore was doing the updates.

Reviewing a recording from 3pm, the lower third was only kept on screen during the new segments.
The first and last 30 minuets had almost the same format.
At 3:10pm and 3:40pm was the Big Picture Forecast for the nation followed by the Focus Forecast for big cities and regions.
3:25pm was the weekend forecast using the 7 Day Forecast maps style.
The difference was the 7 Day Forecast was moved from the 20min after to 30min after the hour.

I noticed while the OCMs are at the maps on Day Planner the lower third for some of the segments says on the screen throughout.
Usually it comes on at the start then goes away.

« on: August 04, 2011, 11:53:04 AM »come to think of it you might be right Eric, they might bring back the LDA so they can use the 33% LDL during Long-Form
I don't think they will go back to the taller LDL because it will mess up the lower thirds on the taped programming that are formatted for the shorter LDL and they would have to shrink the video.
Plus for me I felt it made the video area to small.
What I would like for them to do is letterbox all live programming on the SD feed so they can format the maps and graphics for 16:9.

It seems to me like they are testing a change in the format of Day Planer.
At the start of the show instead of doing a preview with b-roll video and then showing the two OCM's,
they went right to Heather who gave a rundown for the show. After that she went right to Carl Parker for a Tropical Storm update.
Next Heather tossed to Todd Santos her co OCM today who did the Weather Headlines.
As you mentioned there was that hour by hour forecast in the first segment.

Unless it's when they are covering a big storm I do not want to lose the full local forecast to this during live programming.
