Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

I noticed the touch screen in the studio that used to have a Perceptive Pixel logo on the bottom on it now has a Microsoft Logo.

In my opinion TWC should return to live weather programming 2pm-5pm instead of reruns of long form programming.
Leave the long form for evenings and overnight.
Maybe I'm wrong though I just can't believe there are that many people tuning in to reruns 2pm-5pm.

They most certainly have to pay fees to ASCAP for playing of the music used on the LOT8's. It's usually covered by a rights usage contract.

Blanket License
"Blanket license" is a license which allows the music user to perform any or all of over 8.5 million songs in the ASCAP repertory as much or as little as they like. Licensees pay an annual fee for the license. The blanket license saves music users the paperwork, trouble and expense of finding and negotiating licenses with all of the copyright owners of the works that might be used during a year and helps prevent the user from even inadvertently infringing on the copyrights of ASCAP's members and the many foreign writers whose music is licensed by ASCAP in the U.S. [see also Per Program License]

For those interested if TWC was going out of their way to keep Nicole off the "Hurricane Hunters" show, the answer from Nicole on Facebook is yes.

Okay, enough of you have asked last week and this that I will comment on the Hurricane Hunter "reality" show (I say that as I've seen the camera crew have people stage things that never happened).
Yes, I flew the 2 Isaac missions. Yes, the camera crew, employed by TWC has gone out of their way to avoid me.
So, although you can see some shots of me and hear my voice sometimes (the meteorologist is crucial to a hurricane flight, so I guess it's hard to completely avoid me), that is why coverage of me is so limited.
You will see they had to ask the non-meteorologist crew members weather questions (causing some information to be wrong). Another good example, the big Communications problem, was a piece of my equipment...notice how they had everyone else try to explain it instead of asking me.
As I've said before...I might be the only person ever who was discriminated against by a civilian employer for military service, THEN had the same empolyer figure out a way to discriminate against me at my military job.
Sigh!

I get The Weather Channel airing commercials for the Disney Movie. It was just strange to have Mike Bettes doing an intro to the trailer during the live show and having Kyla being on a video clip that airs before the trailer on weather.com.

I doubt any Disney TV network would do the same thing for a Universal movie.

Just be happy you don't have FiOS. They don't seem to be interested at all in adding the IS2 for TWC HD.

Good grief, I wonder how much money TWC gets for decking their homepage out in these (what I think are) annoying ads.  Maybe that's the money they need to keep vocals on the LOT8s! <_<

It's not just Weather.com at the end of Morning Rush they played the trailer for the movie as a part of the show.
Why would NBC Universal want to promote a Disney Movie as a segment during any of their shows or promote it on their websites?
Not to mention the movie is not out till November 27.  :thrilled:

I get why they are promoting Despicable Me 2 since it's distributed by Universal Pictures.

I have a great idea! How about having weather be the first thing on weather.com instead of a slide show of stories with some of them not even related to weather.

Kelly is live at 1am. I'm guess it's just 1am and 1:30am with the other blocks from the 10pm show as the usually do.

Jen is on this weekend. Guessing she's a regular fill-in OCM.

Around 8pm ET the studio lights were going off and on due to the storms in the Atlanta area.
TWC HD 20130613 2001

Could this be why they are not live anymore?  I know the threat has died down considerably but I thought they would still be live, especially to cover their own state.

No, TWC planned to go to tape at 8pm. They only stayed live due to the storms in the Atlanta area.
That's why 8pm-9pm was called extended coverage.

The 1am 6/16 WCL was a rebroadcast from 10pm with outdated storm warnings and maps.
Not one live segment.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Weather Channel ran into a perfect storm of downgrades on Thursday, as Moody's and Standard & Poor's both lowered their debt ratings on it after the company said it would borrow $600 million to pay a special dividend to its owners.

Explain to me why Jeff, Adam and Heather had to go only to hire as part time and full time OCMs Kyla Grogan, Reynolds Wolf and Alexandra Wilson and  Michael Smith?

TWC is starting tropical storm Andrea coverage. They pre-empted 11pm-11:30pm to talk about the tropical storm and have added the radar animation on the bottom left of the LDL.

Kim Cunningham 2 hours ago
We have Tropical Storm Andrea in the Gulf! If you have vacation plans check this out....I'll be on with Dr Postel and Todd Santos from 11-1130 and 1-2am! Heavy rain and gusty winds, maybe a few tornadoes and 2-4 water level rise in the NE Gulf is expected in the next 48 hours, then it heads up the east coast. What can you expect?

As of 10pm the national LDL is using the storm colors.
