Recently, TWC stopped using letterbox for the 1AM WCL on the SD feed, so they reverted back to full screen, full time.
The problem with the setup above is that on the SD feed it would be fine for the 33% LDL in those situations, but not on the HD feed. On the HD feed, it's not letterboxed so any data on the bottom would get cut off, unlike on the SD feed which is letterboxed
Mark Thibodeau from TWC Radio is OCM for the 4:30-7am shows.Who usually does that time frame on weekends?
This is the first time I've noticed him doing forecasts on TV.
He does forecasts for weather.com to.
TWC Local on the 8's Squeezeback- Spokane, WA- Oct. 14, 2010- 3:38PM PDT |
TWC - Memphis IntelliStar - Longform Squeezeback |
First Outlook with new ldl |
TWC Meteorologists sing Sweet Caroline |
While that format of the squeezeback would be okay for IS viewers, it wouldn't be for all others.. in that time alone, those without an IntelliStar saw maybe about 5-10 cities on the LDL out of all the possible cities, which may have not included their own.
TWC Local on the 8's Squeezeback- Spokane, WA- Oct. 14, 2010- 3:38PM PDT
I wish TWC would use this squeezeback again during long-form, which features the big LDL. Then I think they should use the smaller LDL full time during the rest of the long-form program just like they used to do, instead of cuing the small LDL at :08/:38, :28/:58, etc.
Does anyone miss the 33% LDL and should it return? or do a agree with TWC for removing it?I feel that takes up too much of the screen during a live segment. I prefer a smaller LDL.
Tell him the lot8s are still important. I can't view several products on the dtv and have always missed the locals due to them being so short. Having the IS2 is pointless with fewer lfs but again management could care less
You are okay, GT. I know you are a weather involved viewer and I do mean that I pass your comments on in my weekly report. We are trying to convince programming the need for meteorological info and that the customers demand it. I just don't make the decisions unfortunately...I am a meteorologist and have been here since '84, so I understand met info's importance.
as of now, 2 minute locals are out (generally-there are 2 which play on the weekend 4:28am local), however, don't give up hope. We have been working on the programming department to see if they will increase the length of the locals in the future as they are always evaluating the process.
