TWC Today News / Re: New Music Section
« on: July 08, 2013, 06:07:41 PM »
I currently do not have the site permissions to access the music page which is why we came up with the YouTube solution, and I agree I am worried about the copyrights which is why I will only upload songs that currently doesn't get tagged by YouTube.
How do you know they won't get tagged? Sorry for all the questions. I'm seriously considering doing something similar with my videos, but I just assumed it wouldn't be wise to move the ones with songs in them.

don't worry Matt i don't mind all the questions :) when you upload a video on youtube right after it's finished click on your "My video" page and you will see something like "Video Blocked In Some Counties" or Matched Third Party Content" right next to the upload *if nothing is next to the video the clip is fine*, Click on those links and it will tell you if anything would be done to your video or if only ads will appear next to the video. from my experience with uploads a copyrighted song around 90-120 seconds is more likely to get tagged rather than just a short 30 second snippet.

The reason i'm doing it is because martin came up with a great idea to have the songs embedding on youtube instead of on the site (in which there isn't any way to update the music page manually)
What do you mean you can't update the music page manually? And aren't you worried about copyright claims? I don't think it matters how long the clip is.

I discussed a solution with Martin and we have come up with creating a TWCTodayMusic youtube page so all of the music featured on TWC could be heard there. each clip will only be 30 seconds long to be somewhat similar to amazon.

I had a lengthy discussion with Tony F via email about the new graphics and this is what he told me

Quote
The new graphics and products are still a long way away and only in the planning stages, We are not making any changes from now on until the new graphics and products come out toward the end of the year Unfortunately, we still don't know when Comcast will do their HD locals. And it will be a number of months before we know anything about the new product dates.

and here's what he told Vala about previous versions of Stars (XL,3000,4000)

We are very sorry about this. Unfortunately, your cable company has one of our older Local on the 8's computers. That model is having difficulty getting updates. We are trying some things to make it better but there isn't much we can do to these old models. We will continue to try to find fixes.

The good news is that a newer Local on the 8's model is replacing all the older ones in 2013. I don't have a date but the new one will be coming in a number of months and the new one will be much, much better than the local you are currently seeing.

Has anyone seen "High Rip Current Risk" on the Bulletin Screen before?

Never seen that weather bulletin before. Was there narration?

Since the locals have been 60 seconds there was no narration.

Update: While from the message given it looks like our site isn't infected I would strongly advise everyone to keep their protection software up to date while we work to resolve this issue. If you do not have any protection software download the free Windows Defender. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-defender-details.aspx

Our host security department has been contacted and we are still investigating. I will let you know as soon as I can regarding the status of the site. It could be several days before any warning messages are removed.

MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) is another alternative
