Sorry, I refuse to use poison in my home. A LITTLE Mercury is more than the amount that should be, which is NONE.
Using that logic, I guess schools and offices are dangerous places to be, since they use fluorescent lights everywhere. :whistling:
No, because they're mounted on the ceiling, and they virtually never break in a school setting. Not to mention they have the resources for cleanup.

Bottom line, i wouldn't replace the lightbulbs I'm using now, that give me no problems, for a totally inferior product.

Do you have any idea how unrealistic that sounds? Light bulbs will break, you can try to avoid it, but it will happen at some point or another, and as stated, even a little mercury is hazardous, especially to humans and animals. And, whether you put it in a bag or not, it's still equally bad for the environment. You're contaminating landfills, which in turn, can contaminate ground water. On a large scale, that's poisoning half the population.

As for #3,
-They give horrible light
-They take long to reach maximum output.

I can go on for hours, but that would be boring.

1. They have Mercury.
2. They require proper disposal (No one will do it)
3. It's just a horrible product from the ground up.

They really need to overhaul things.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I will NEVER buy a CFL lightbulb as long as I live.

Right now, an iPod Classic 80 GB black, which I got for my birthday, about 11 months ago. Works great, I use it every day.

Before that, I had an iPod Nano 2 GB that I got for Christmas many years ago. Used that thing every day for 2 years, before the battery could only hold about 3 hours of charge.

iPods are quality devices, for sure.

Most chain hotels probably offer it, especially if its a Choice or Accor hotel.

Curt, you are aware that this thread is about OLD computers and computer stuff, right?
Many of that stuff is old :P

Much of it isn't.  ;)
I have to agree.

In my opinion, "Old" or "Vintage" technology would have to be at least 10 years old. So in the case of this thread, anything made before 1999.

I like the new simpsons HD opener! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZGz1Ajg7QU&fmt=18

The show has been dead for over 5 years, and now they dig the grave even deeper.

To sum it up in three words-bad decision making. Matt no longer seems to put much thought into anything he does. Anyone recently try to navigate the site? Yeah, you can't. There IS NO navigation! That's a prime example of a very bad decision on Matt's part. And he's made a number of bad decisions on the forum as well.
Yeah, when he first renovated the site it took me several minutes just to find the videos section.
Not only that, but over 80% of the content is gone too.
