No Gary, thats not the same thing AT ALL. you couldn't have picked a worse analogy. There are so many more factors to back up my beliefs on the surge protection issue.

Well nothing has happened yet, so why do i have any reason whatsoever to worry? Power surges are very rare here (whether its weather related or not). Once something gets damaged, THEN i'll be much more catious. Until then, absolutely nothing wrong. Everything is on a surge protector anyway. (the expensive ones too)

I've never turned off my computer during bad storms. Up until a year ago, i didn't know you were supposed to.

Never had any storm-related damage to my equipment...
