This has been in my basement fridge for at least 5 years. Think it'll be worth something in the near future? They haven't made this since 2004. :D

« on: March 22, 2008, 11:00:18 PM »
Anyone heard of this? I guess its a new technology from AT&T that provides Cable TV over your phone lines. Its cheaper than Comcast and is supposed to be good. I'm going to switch to it.

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / IM icons

I know with the Yahoo icon, it lights up in yellow when the person is signed on, and grayed out when they are signed off, but do the new AIM and MSN icons do anything like that? Just wondering. :)

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Signature limits
« on: March 10, 2008, 04:56:38 PM »
Lately I've been noticing some obnoxiously large signatures, be it text and/or pictures. Perhaps a general limit of how much can go in there would be beneficial? Just a thought...

Ok so I'm making a site. Yes. Ok. So i want to have 2 separate sites, one that uses CSS and one that doesn't (for compatibility with older computers/browsers). Is there a computer/browser detect code that will detect an OS, and direct it to a certain page or something? Just wondering if thats at all possible. Thanks!

General Discussion / need help with PHP stuff
« on: March 01, 2008, 04:03:27 PM »
K, so i got PHP going on my server and everything. I've skimmed over the config file 20 times or so. And yet, whenever i try to access a PHP page from my browser, it displays the code in text, and nothing else. I'm out of ideas, and can't seem to find any info on it. I remember this happening a few months ago, and i fixed it, but i have no clue what it was. Any help is greatly appreciated!

General Discussion / Apple: Desktop or Laptop?
« on: February 27, 2008, 11:27:09 AM »
Trying to get an idea of what would be a smarter buy. I've posted this in several forums, so i'm quoting it.

Quote
My parents and I have discussed that when i go into High School next year, I would be able to get a new Mac at the end of this school year (provided i have good grades and such). At first, I was thinking about a MacBook Pro, since it's pretty "bitchin" and very powerful. However, after giving it some more thought, I'm not sure it makes sense. 1, I already have an iBook, so computing on the go is not much of an issue. 2, I don't do anything really all that powerful, except for Reason 4 (music creation) and Photoshop/ Dreamweaver stuff. and finally, they are considerably more expensive, seeing as i would get the 17 inch screen.

My other option, would be an iMac. I've never only used an iMac about twice in my life, and it was the original Bondi. Seeing as portability is not essential, a desktop would give me more power. Or would it (I'm asking)? I feel that if I had a MBP, it would have a far greater chance of getting wrecked somehow, such as being dropped. Also, iMacs are relatively compact for a desktop.

So, with that said, I would really appreciate any help with making the right decision!

I also realized that PowerPC is being phased out by Apple, so newer apps won't be compatible.

General Discussion / CFL bulbs
« on: February 24, 2008, 10:02:43 AM »
Seeing as there has been a lot of news on these lately, it seems appropriate to make a discussion thread.

let me sum up the basics:

CFL bulbs use less energy. I know several people who use all CFL bulbs in their houses, and have noticed absolutely no change in energy bills. They give off more light, though its cold light. They contain harmful elements, so you can't throw them out when they burn out, and if you break one, your in danger, which also makes it MORE harmful to the environment. The government seems to think these are the greatest things in the world, which is the absolute opposite of what they really are. They made it a law to phase out the older lightbulbs, which have proven to be effective, and much less trouble than these awful CFLs.

As you can tell, I'm highly opposed to these pieces of crap. Thoughts?
