It's colder in Florida than it is here! In fact, all of the southeast is colder than it is here, with the exception of Southern Florida and extreme Southern Texas. :happy:

... Dense fog advisory in effect until 9 am EDT this morning...

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a dense fog
advisory... which is in effect until 9 am EDT this morning.

* Locations... northeast New Jersey... most of the lower Hudson
Valley and Long Island... southern New York City.

* Hazards... reduced visibilities.

* Visibilities... one-quarter mile or less.

* Timing... through 9 am.

* Impacts... reduced visibilities will make driving hazardous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to one quarter mile or less. If driving... slow down... use
your low beam headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of
you in case a sudden stop is needed.

Winter.

Mild breeze on a warm winter day or a cool breeze on a relatively cool summer day?

Did you get a NWAS12 lunchbag :P Eleanor from the Taunton office was shipping a bunch of them up there last week.

NWAS12 in Madison was fantastic but a bit cold. It was great catching up with a lot of the industries leading OCMs and operational mets. Jim and Nick were fun to chat with again. I was disappointed the the Department of Commerce sought fit to remove nearly 75% of funding for NWS employees to attend one day before the event. What a low move

You mean this!? :bleh: Didn't know Eleanor was the one who supplied them.

Forgot to mention this but when I was at the 4th Tri-State Weather Conference on Saturday, I got to have lunch with the longest running primary meteorologist on a radio station, Craig Allen (yes we have the same name, I was named after him). I also got to speak with WCBS-TV's primary prime time meteorologist Lonnie Quinn, though he's not a real meteorologist. It was a great conference. I'm surprised at my self how well I was able to understand what they were talking about, especially when they went into detail about mesocyclones and dual-polarization radar.

Yes, some years it seems it never stops, some years it seems it never starts.

Did the temperature rise above 100°F at least once in the past two years for your location?

Has anyone seen TWC's new interactive weather map on weather.com? I like it! It provides a lot more options than the old boring one. I'm not sure about the water temperature map, don't think it's that accurate.

Record low temperatures are in jeopardy tonight, even some of the long term records may fall tonight as a recording breaking cold snap comes through tonight into tomorrow. NWS has us down to 36°F for tonight. One thing that will set Long Island back is the winds. Winds will be North at 5 to mph off the Long Island Sound which should keep all of LI above freezing if the winds don't lighten up. If the winds do lighten up, then the Pine Barrens should drop below freezing and the rest should still stay above freezing. Here's a map of my forecast lows for tonight.

Key:
Green: Mid 40's
Light Green: Low 40's
Light Blue: Mid to Upper 30's
Moderate Blue: Upper 20's to Low 30's
Dark Blue: Low 20's to Upper 20's

For some reason, it feels a lot colder than what it is, there really isn't a wind chill but it feels like 40°F  :brr:
