43.9°F Light Rain

Up to 28.3" of snow on the season. With all the snow threats ahead, we'll easily hit 40", maybe 50" if we are lucky, that would rival the winters of 09-10 and 10-11.

They closed school here for today. A little surprised. Other than the threat of a little freezing rain, the roads are drivable, especially since it's raining now. We could a very active 2 weeks in terms of snow. Could have a 4-8" storm Thurs, another potential blizzard on Sunday and the GFS is hinting at even another storm around the 21st. Too bad we already have off that week. We'll be going to school in July with all these snow days and days lost from Hurricane Sandy.

Under a freezing rain advisory. The snowpack from this blizzard will cause temps to be below freezing when the rain begins.

How and where do I find and open the Catalyst Control Center?

Should be able to right click on your desktop.

While the heavy snow has ended across the area... roads across the
region remain either impassable or treacherous. In addition...
gusty northwest winds will produce blowing and drifting of the
snow at times... limiting visibilities. Travel is not recommended
and only if absolutely necessary.

17.5" here. Great storm, glad we got one after how bad this winter has been and last year's winter. Season total is up to 28.3" (which is 602% of last year). KISP reported about 27.3" of snow from this storm, Upton reported 30" of snow.

He should have went to CT or Long Island. Plenty of thundersnow reported out there.

Speaking of disappointments, I'm disappointed to see NYC might not manage to see over 6 inches out of this. A lot of things went wrong there, the wasted 1/2 inch of QPF that went to being only rain, along with a late phase of the two energies (clipper & nor'easter) which caused a nice little break in the snow action. I heard Central Park has only accumulated 2.5 inches. :wall: Great, the one time I choose to be gutsy on a snow forecast and I'll probably end up having a dozen egg yolks streaming from my face. :P

This thing is far from over in our area. The city will easily see over a foot tonight with amazing snowfall rates. I would be shocked if they didn't. We still have about 4-6 more hours of decent snows before it tapers off. I'm already at 10.5" as of midnight, the north shore has 2 feet already. Many forecasters are now calling for nearly 3 feet on the north shore. A lot of people thought this was a bust, even my self, until part two came along.

National Weather Service Doppler radar and observations indicate
a large band of precipitation over the area... producing a mixture
of snow... sleet and rain. Temperatures in some locations are below
freezing and any rain that is falling here is freezing on contact
resulting in treacherous conditions. Precipitation is expected to
transition between a wintry mix and all snow through 11 PM. In
areas of all snow... snowfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour with
near zero visibility are expected to occur. A few rumbles of
thunder are also possible. In addition... windy conditions with
gusts between 40 and 50 mph will lead to dangerous travel
conditions.

Travel is not recommended and should be avoided if possible. Those
that must travel should do so with extreme caution.
