Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Sandy
« on: April 11, 2013, 05:55:17 PM »
Me neither. Not surprised. It will probably be the best storm I ever experienced and maybe ever will. I love hurricanes and high wind storms but I hope we don't get hit again this summer. There would literally be no more beach left. It's pretty rare to get a hurricane each year for 3 consecutive years here anyway.

Nice pics. That's definitely a shelf cloud. The line also produced a nice shelf cloud here too. I didn't take any pictures, it was too dark. We had some wind gusts 40-60mph here, then came the rain and lightning. Nice little severe weather event. Bout to get ready for round 2 approaching from the west.

... Elevated risk of wildfire spread through early evening...

Southerly winds will increase today ahead of an approaching cold
front. Wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph will develop late this
morning and last until this evening.

Relative humidity values will drop into the mid to upper 30s across
interior areas... while remaining in the 40s along the coast.
Despite the slightly higher rh values than previous days... dry
conditions remain in place over the region... allowing for fine
fuels such as grasses and brush to continue drying.

These factors will create an enhanced threat for the spread of
wildfires for late this morning into this evening.

For more information about wildfire danger... burn restrictions
and wildfire prevention and education please visit your state
forestry or environmental protection website.
