Had some sleet/graupel mix in today along with some almost completely melted flakes that fell, but still some frozen precip. Other people around the area can confirm this. Absolutely historic, but the latest frozen precip date of anywhere on the island is May 27th, 1961. We are two days shy of the real record. Earliest date of frozen precip is Sep 29th, set in 1893.

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Central 2013
« on: May 25, 2013, 07:44:01 PM »
But the GFS is always aggressive at wanting to develop a tropical system and it's not always right. It hasn't even formed, yet. Don't worry about something that doesn't even exist, yet! It's a long ways out and may not even develop at all! The GFS has a reputation for being aggressive (too aggressive at times) when it come to tropical systems.

Not always. I recall correctly the GFS showing Hurricane Irene tracking up the east coast as far back as August 2nd, weeks before it formed. If the signal is there and it shows up on almost every run (which this new threat has been), I think it's possible. If the ECMWF is also on board with the system then it's likely.

With 850mb temps expected to below freezing, steep lapse rates and decent precip rates, it's going to be a crappy beginning to Memorial Day weekend here. If only 2mT's were cooler we actually could have been talking a snowstorm. Just a cold rain here, temps in the upper 40's, snow in the mountains. Monday looks ok. Endless winter continues...

The use of the word "hurricane" is called an analogy, obviously there wasn't no hurricane is Kansas. But the bigger problem is how the title states Kansas, but an article about a tornado in Oklahoma.

Yikes!  What happened?  Hope that can be treated soon and that you feel better.

I must have gotten it from a plastic stick that I was holding. The stick was disintegrating so microscopic plastic fibers were getting stuck in my skin. After hours of different procedures of trying to remove them, I just decided to use tweezers to pull them out. Problem is, you wouldn't even be able to see them. I used a cotton fabric to rub my hand against, so the plastic fibers would get caught on the cotton and cause a sudden sharp pain for me to sense where the fiber was. From there, I put my perpendicular to a light source and looked at my hand to see a side view, that way I was able to see the plastic fibers in my hand, then use the tweezers to prick them out. Took me a couple of hours and I still have a few left in me.
