I don't mind the hot temps, actually root for them. I just like long days and high sun angles  :happy: .A 25 degree sun angle at solar noon in the winter is really depressing. Makes you wish you lived more south. If fall/winter had just as long days as summer and not have summer temps, that would be awesome. Can't think of a place that has that though. Maybe up on a mountain near the equator.

The summer solstice will occur at 1:04am tonight on June 21. Starting then, the sun will be on its way back south. Days will get shorter, sun angles will get lower. Not looking forward to the winter solstice.

Looks like Nome, AK tied its all-time highest temp ever today. Crazy heat up there. Tying an all-time heat record in June. Amazing turn around from a few months ago when Alaska was in a deep freeze.

It's the same here. This was an awkward spring here. Started off cold in March. April was alright, a bit cool but very dry, day after day of sun. The dry spell lasted into early May and we've been in a wet pattern ever since, and KNYC only less than an inch away from breaking its all time wettest June.

Other than that, there are huge differences between the GFS and Euro. GFS wants to torch the entire medium range here. Euro wants to keep a trough over the area through the rest of the month. 0z GFS was hot with day after day 90+ temps, 06z backed off a bit and looks like it's trending towards a Euro like solution, with a ridge, then trough, then back to a ridge.

Suffolk County in southeast New York...

* until 415 PM EDT...

* at 318 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in
excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending
from 10 miles northwest of Mattituck to Wading River... and moving
east at 30 mph.

* Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Calverton... Riverhead... Peconic... Southold... Shelter Island...
Noyack... Shinnecock Hills... Sag Harbor... Southampton...
Bridgehampton... Hither Hills State Park and East Hampton

In addition to large hail and damaging winds... continuous cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately! Lightning is one of natures number one killers.
Remember... if you can hear thunder... you are close enough to be
struck by lightning.
