northeast New Jersey and southeast New York... including the
following areas... in southern Connecticut... Fairfield and New
Haven counties. In northeast New Jersey... Bergen... Essex...
Hudson... Passaic and Union counties. In southeast New York...
all five boroughs of New York City... Rockland... Westchester...
Nassau and Suffolk counties.

* Through this afternoon.

* Low pressure moving northeast from the mid Atlantic region and
its associated warm front will act on an increasingly moist and
unstable air mass to produce showers and thunderstorms today.
Widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are likely... with
localized amounts of over 3 inches possible in the heaviest
cells. This rainfall could occur over a short period of
time... with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour... and cause
flash flooding of small streams and urban... low lying and poor
drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop in and near
the watch area that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a
very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and
be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.

Pretty boring here. Cool and below average. Also pretty cloudy. While last month it was so easy to keep the low temp above 70, this month we radiate so much with the lower dews, NW wind and troughiness. Some models are hinting the WAR (Bermuda High) will build back in towards the end of the month and bring warmer and more humid conditions. Also thanks to Long Island's mirco climate, south shore is in a drought, north shore is extremely wet. Meh

This forum seems pretty dead. Not been having such a good time after I got back from vacation. Haven't done anything, bored out my mind, and haven't hung out with any one. July which was good for me, was only a fantasy. No one wants to hang out with me or talk to me. Typical summer bummer.

Good luck to em, it's not going to be easy going up against a monopoly company like TWC. They're fighting to hold on to what little viewership they can now. (during dull periods I mean when they splatter all the longform crap on)
However, I think they can pull off being successful if they stick to their word in the press release.

They shouldn't have a problem. Only set back they have is that they don't have a lot of viewership on their internet forecasts, they aren't known well to the general public, other than a community like ours. They shouldn't have a problem against TWC. After all when people tune to TWC, they want know what the weather will be like, not to know how to rangle reefs and know how to hunt iceburgs.

Accuwrong. They can't even get the 5-day forecast right, not even close as NWS. I remember when they started doing 25-day forecasts, now 45? The only models I know of that go out that far are the Euro weaklies and CFSv2. Even at that range, those model's accuracies are poor, and only useful for mid and upper level patterns in the 750mb-100mb layers, they often show poor surface reflections and outputs. I saw a mini study someone did on how accurate Accuweather's 25-day forecasts are, you're better off using climatology standards (1981-2010), which were shown to be more accurate than Accuweather.

Got back from my vacation in the Florida Keys. Certainly was a memorable one.

I love Florida, much more cleaner and nicer than New York.

Summer has been alright here. July was the humidest month on record with a avg. dew point around 70. July averaged 78 degrees with a avg. high of 85 and avg. low around 71. We had a whole week of 90+ temps with 70+ dews. 8 total 90 degree days in July which is pretty average. Really lacking the thunderstorms here though. Not one this entire year so far.
