* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Nassau County in southeast New York...
Suffolk County in southeast New York...

* until 530 PM EDT...

* at 449 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in
excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending
from Centerport to Plainview to Long Beach... or along a line
extending from Huntington to Plainview to Long Beach... and moving
northeast at 50 mph.

* Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Huntington Station... Wantagh... Northport... Farmingdale...
Melville... Massapequa... Gilgo State Park... Amityville...

...STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SUFFOLK COUNTY...

AT 759 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS TRACKING A
STRONG THUNDERSTORM NEAR HUNTINGTON...AND MOVING EAST AT 30 MPH.

FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING...AND GUSTY WINDS UP TO 50 MPH ARE
EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM. IN ADDITION...VERY HEAVY RAIN...WITH
RAINFALL RATES OF UP TO AROUND AN INCH AN HOUR...IS OCCURRING WITH
THIS STORM. THIS COULD CAUSE PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS...AND
MINOR FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

LIGHTNING IS ONE OF NATURES NUMBER ONE KILLERS. REMEMBER...IF YOU CAN
HEAR THUNDER...YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. MOVE
