... Enhanced threat for the spread of brush fires late this morning
into this evening...

Despite some light rain over the weekend... the region remains
very dry. Winds gusting to 20 to 25 mph and relative humidity
values dropping into the teens this afternoon will continue to
allow fine fuels to dry. The combination of winds... low humidity
and drying of the fine fuels such as grasses and brush will result
in an elevated risk for the spread of wildfires late this morning
though sunset.

General Weather Chat / Re: What's the weather in your area?
« on: April 03, 2012, 02:14:30 PM »
60.3°F Sunny/Windy

RH: 18%

They aren't going to issue a red flag warning because the soil moisture has increased due to recent rainfall, but they have issued a red flag warning for eastern Long Island.

EDIT: We are now under a Fire Weather Watch for tomorrow, (My B-day), but not for today.

These are in my own words:

**Warmest and Driest March set on record at Islip NY

The monthly total of 0.99" of precipitation was 3.45" below average
*Previous driest March: 2006 - 1.08"

The monthly mean temperature of 47.3°F was 8.0°F above average
Previous Warmest March: 2010 - 45.1°F

Islip's record date back to 1984 only. According to other weather stations around the area with larger climate records, the warmest March was set in 1945, even still, March 2012 was warmer than March 1945.

You all realize that you have a better chance of being hit by lightning multiple times than you do in winning the lottery.  That's why I've never played it and never will.

Anyone who's ever played knows that, but it doesn't matter. It's about the excitement of the whole thing knowing you could be that lucky one to get it. There have been plenty of cases where folks have played only once and won big the first time. It's worth the risk if it means the difference between feeling like you don't have anything to having it all instantly.
All it takes is a dollar and a dream!

My mom bought 10 tickets. My dad is in a group with 14 other people who, in total, bought 75 tickets. I don't play the lottery yet because I have other important things to spend my money on. When I have a surplus of money, then I'll start playing.

I just gotta hope we win it.  :worship:

56.5°F Sunny

Even though the period of record my area is small, it's going to shatter the warmest March on record. Tomorrow's forecast may bring it down a little with a high of 44 with rain.

Relative humidities will range between 30 and 40 percent today.
Some isolated areas may dip below 30 percent... but it is not
expected to be widespread. Wind speeds will range between 25 and
30 mph. This will aid in the spread of wildfires... should any develop.

I was wondering what those flashes of light were in the distance. A pop-up thunderstorm in less than 10 minutes.

56°F Thunderstorm

EDIT: These strong storms stayed mainly to the south of my location, but they sure did put on a good light show :)
