The songs were randomly played by a computer. That's how they cued so fast. Why BTF songs played at times, I don't know. You'd have to ask someone that worked there in Master Control, but it's an "error" I saw all the time back then. In fact, there were times I looked forward to it because sometimes they'd play the BTF song longer than 53 seconds.

I found an old post where you got excited when "Seguaro" played as a BTF song during a J flavor in 1993 due to an error since you never heard it past the :53 mark before. For a lot of people, that was a blast from the past, previously regularly playing on J flavor LFs in 1990 and 1991.

Trust me, BTF songs were always played when the regular playlist failed to play. I've witnessed this dozens of times. And yes, it was a technical error. All songs were played at random by a computer, not a person. I don't know how it worked beyond that.

And yes, "Recollections" was used as a L flavor too. I actually have a recording of it in my update queue. And yes, "Morning In Martinique" was also an "E." I'm sure I could find an example of that.

I wonder how a BTF song was cued so fast. And I wonder what made Chazz think Morning In Martinique was played as an L with narration and an M and J without narration. Also, that song started from the beginning in the unusual M flavor airing, but it used a different time-in when played on the BTF. No, it was not used as a M, J, or L. At least not officially. It might have played during those flavors when the music computer or whatever failed to play a valid song. A good rule of thumb when you find videos like this is that if there's no narration, it's probably just a BTF song playing.

How does that happen? So TWC just grabbed a BTF song if the music programmer didn't play a valid song? That seems unlikely as the song started right when the LF did, so TWC wouldn't have had time to know they needed a  song that wasn't usually used as that flavor. Maybe it played as an L and J flavor due to a technical difficulty? When it played as a BTF, it didn't start from the beginning, whereas it did in the video Chazz posted way back in 2007. I also read comments that suggest this song played as an M flavor before a 30 second commercial that would be blocked out in some areas, so that explains it playing as an M without narration, but that doesn't explain why Chazz thought it played as an L and a J flavor. The description suggests he thought it played as an L with narration. Another song I wonder about is "Recollection" by "Gary Brunotte", it's listed on your website as playing as an L flavor besides H, but there's only a video of it playing as an H, did it for real play as an L? And did "Morning In Martinique" for real play as an E?

In this video, "Morning In Martinique" by "EKO" is airing as an M flavor, but on the twcclassics playlist for February 1994, it's only listed as airing during the E and K flavors, as well as BTF (there is a video of it airing during that with a later cut), but all other LF videos only have it airing on K, furthermore, theweatherchazz's (RIP) video description claims it also aired as an L and J (the latter without narration like the M). My question is, I believe it being used for E since it's listed on the playlist, and it obviously aired as an M, and videos confirm it aired as a K, but did it really also air as an L and J or did theweatherchazz have a false memory? And did it start from the beginning on all those flavors, or did at least one have a later cut like the BTF?

Is this still a work in progress? The WeatherStar 4000 Simulator is mostly down for the foreseeable future so I was hoping the III Simulator was still being worked on.

Does anybody here have access to the local forecast video clips that were on the old TWC Today website until the non-forum website was closed in 2020? Local Weather Drewbie on YouTube had uploaded them there, but he recently closed his account so I was hoping somebody somewhere had them stored up on their computer so they wouldn't be lost forever.

Is anybody of any help here? I really hope these videos aren't lost forever.

In addition to the sampling of "Morning Awakes" by "Dover", I just now found out that "Smooth Sailing" (aka "All That Jazz" by "Trammell Starks" was sampled by somebody going by "PZA" on an album called "Pizza Party" and it's titled "Cloud". https://pza420.bandcamp.com/track/cloud
Plus, I think another song on that same album, this one called "1027" sampled another classic Trammell Starks song. I wonder what's going on with these people sampling classic TWC songs and making them their own songs, especially one that supposedly had its masters lost forever.

Afternoon In The Park, which was played in April 2004, is Lazy Afternoon by Incognito, which played again in June/July 2010 under the title Early Evening. Also, Enchanted Island by Soul Cafe/Catamaran by Samuel Lincoln sounds like something that should have played in 2005.

One can only hope. They've never stayed the same more than 4-5 years. Now its been EIGHT!?!

Not only that, but the longest icons (from an on-air standpoint, not factoring in some cable systems kept STARs using previous icons until as late as 2014) stayed the same before was just short of 9 years, from January 1998-December 2006, but now, the current icon set is over 10 years old. Do you think there'd be any chance TWC would have a relaunch or do you think they'd go off the air before that would happen? And would Local on the 8s ever get a facelift or would it be more likely to be discontinued altogether? The only change since the WATT launch in November 2013 was the font and LDL change in August 2019.

Where did you get that background? That looks like a background from TWC's Weather Star XL Release Notes from way back in the day, a prototype version of the September 2001-August 2005 background, but how did you get it with no overlays?

I don't think the song in those videos is commercially available, because a full length version is nowhere to be found, but it played on TWC in both August and September 2005, both in the overnight, but when this website had playlists, there was a song called "Cold Front" by "Rob Weiss" listed in the August and September 2005 playlists, but the audio clip was a totally different song. By luck, I have the audio clip here to show you what I mean. Is that song another one called "Cold Front" by another "Rob Weiss", does the song have 2 totally different interludes and the wrong one was listed on this website years ago, or is it just erroneously titled "Cold Front" by "Rob Weiss"? I'd be interested in knowing the name of the song in the file I attached, it's pretty catchy, even if it didn't air on TWC.

Does TWC still even forecast "Scattered Showers" these days? I haven't seen that in a very long time. "Few Showers" doesn't show up much these days either, but it does once in awhile. I've not seen "Scattered Showers" that I can remember since I think I saw it once early in the WATT-era, but not since then.
