Reading comprehension is my all time weakness. Audio or visual, I can never sit myself down and read a passage and expect to remember anything when I answer questions about it. Must be my ADHD-ness or something :P

Is that Red Hot Chili Peppers song still on the playlist? It was one of the very few songs I liked.
The only instrumentals that remain on the playlist are the RHCP song, I Will Possess Your Heart, and that Daft Punk song.

I would suggest First Half 2012 Playlist.
That's good enough for me.  It's been done. ;)
Did you modify all 150 replies one by one, or do they automatically get retitled now when you change the topic title?

It seems a lot of legendary artists have passed away this year. It's like 2009 when Jackson passed away.
They say people die in threes

Never heard of her but still sad to see her go...

I wouldn't do it either way. Lots of math involved and most of the math is useless because you probably won't need Calc 3 in most cases for your job
Patrick summed it up pretty well. Plus I can tolerate math a lot more than writing/reading.

What I miss are those HD intros. Those were beautiful. I would die for a collage of ALL of them. I still can't find the sunset one.
That heatwave one they used in the summer 2008? I have that one, I'll look for it

General Discussion / Re: Fonts help

Yeah, I had a feeling it was either that or some type of Helvetica font. But what about the city titles and temperatures on the map? They don't seem to match very well with Arial Narrow.

General Discussion / Re: For those who still own VCRs
« on: May 19, 2012, 03:21:40 PM »
Meh..I guess this is more complicated than I thought. I connected an A/V cable from my VCR's video/audio jacks to the computer's, and I only get audio but not video
It's not complicated at all. All you need is an RF modulator, an S-video cable, and a composite cable. ;)

True..but the job market here is not very good for IT. I know several people who graduated with IT related majors and none of them have landed jobs
Not really true... IT is actually one of the few industries out there where the number of jobs is still growing, and it will remain that way as long as technology improves.

The best option is the get an RF modulator. If your PC has an s-video port you can connect that to the modulator and use composite to connect that to the VCR.

Going off the topic of music... :hammer:

I have noticed recently where TWC's LOT8s bumpers say no more than "And now your LOT8s" and last for about a couple of seconds.  They aren't advertising anything beforehand.  It's possible, though, that some of these are also mixed in with ones that do advertise longform, etc.  I don't know when this started, or if it has been discussed before, but I feel like it's been awhile since we've seen a LOT8s intro without any form of advertisement before it.
They've been doing that for a month or two. It's either a LOT8s intro advertising something, or an advertisement preceding the short intro.

Hurricane specialist vs. hurricane expert
IMO, "expert" is a bit of a higher ranking than "specialist." You can specialize in something but not know almost everything on the subject to call yourself an expert.

Could Carl Parker get a promotion to full time Tropical Storm expert?
Doubtful, I'm sure TWC will stick to having someone with a doctorate's degree in meteorology with a special interest in hurricanes like they've always been.

Dr. Rick Knabb has just announced that he has accepted a job as director of the National Hurricane Center on TWC. More to come...
