TWC Today News / Re: Martin's passing and the future of TWC Today

Do we know yet the cause of his death?
All we know is he passed from an illness, per his obituary.

In a monumentally stupid decision, TWC seems to have disabled straight passthrough of NWS warnings to the unit. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued just west of here and the ticker just says "a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for a portion of the viewing area. Remember if a severe thunderstorm threatens; take shelter indoors. Stay away from windows." The alert tone has been updated to match the IS2 while Cantore narrates the text. Why was this in any way necessary?

This is part of the new FCC regulation requiring emergency messages to be read out loud.
This creates an issue especially with weatherscans that serve large areas, because then locations are not mentioned in the warning messages.

OCMs & Personalities / OCMs shouting on air
« on: January 31, 2016, 12:00:33 AM »
Is it me, or have the OCMs have really been SHOUTING on the air in recent years? Comparing to clips before around the WATT relaunch, I notice quite a difference, and sometimes it's ear raping.  :pinch:

Such icons cannot and will not be distributed -- they are TWC company property. The best you can get are renditions, if anyone had made any.

We're at $2.35 here in PA and it's been rising in the last week.

AMHQ Early? That name is a bit cheesy to me but I can't put my finger on it. I like the new schedule though.

Now that it's November 5th, five weeks after TWC's alleged 'deadline' to replace all remaining IntelliSTAR 1 units, I find it amazing how there are still very few IS1 units left out there including mine.   I wonder what will happen if all IS1 cable headends fail to acquire an IntelliSTAR 2 XD or Jr within 11 days from now, when TWC is supposed to discontinue IS1 service.
Either a local forecast with no report (if they will still be cued, which i doubt) or the satellite LF. I'm sure they will all be replaced though, the affiliates were given plenty of notice.  Also it should be noted that the affiliates are not paying a dime to upgrade their IS1.

Carfagno officially announced on Facebook tonight she's hosting beginning at 5am with Rodriguez, with Cantore and Abrams joining in at 6am.  Much better pairing, IMHO.

btw, I went to bed earlier on Saturday night but set my DVR, and on cue... time change problems like always. Starts only at 1am EST when the main window and bottom of the L-bar failed. Eventually, the whole background but the conditions ticker failed (1:02:02am EST). Finally failed out to the TWC SD feed at 1:02 EST, stayed there for a few seconds and went into full reboot. It returned to normal promptly at 1:03:03am.

I'll hopefully have a video up Friday night when I get back home. (I just checked it from my SlingPlayer today.)
I recorded mine overnight that night but it had no issues for once.

I can lend a hand to you all if needed too. Martin was a great guy with a bright future ahead of him and it was heartbreaking to see this happen to him at such a young age. Thoughts are being sent out to his family and friends. :(

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / Traffic corrections

IntelliStar 2 HD - Bensalem, PA (Comcast/Xfinity)

My star here has a few traffic issues on the LDL. For one, US Route 1 is incorrectly labeled as an East-West route; the highway actually runs North-South.  Also, one of the I-95 routes run from the Vine Expressway to what is labeled as "SR 9."  I'm assuming the latter is referring to I-476 (known locally as the Blue Route), part of which was formerly carried by PA Route 9, but the PA 9 designation has been out of use since 1996, so you might need to correct this as well.

Thanks!

If it's a programming block, doesn't it make this essentially a carbon copy of The 90's are All That?
