Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: June 30, 2012, 11:58:19 PM »
Central is the new phrase they use on extend coverage.
Hurricane Central, Tornado Central and now Severe Storm Central.

TWC went off at 8pm and back live at 9:30pm and air live for 11pm ET.
The term "central" has actually been used since 2005... although in the past year or so they've really worn it down.

The new design goes live on July 2nd. I don't know about you Patrick, but I just don't think a site like this stands out nor is it convenient enough. It's a government agency's site and IMO it needs to be simple and easy to navigate like the old one. Plus there are still a number of bugs and other issues that need to be corrected anyways.

They have stated before that they do visit the forums on a regular basis, but are not logged on while doing so most of the time.

I've been posting weather updates in the NYC and Philadelphia weather threads in the last few weeks using my Weatherscan IS v.1 templates, what does everyone think of them so far? As you can see I had been making some improvements overtime, but I think my last two turned out the best so far.

Victor, ANYTHING is better than Movie Maker. It gave me enough headaches so I gave up on it like two years ago.

On a happier note, it is now officially summer as the solstice occurs at 7:09 PM EDT.  Enjoy the longest day and the shortest night of the year.
It sure does fell like the first day of summer here......

I expect the same thing to happen when TWC expands long-form to three hours. Weather Center Live might disappear, and all live programming during primetime might cease. Live shows will probably only air from 4AM - 5 PM except for hurricane coverage and select severe weather outbreaks.
I can see that happening...

4-6 First Outlook
6-7 WUWA
7-10 YWT
10-11 WUWA
11-5 Day Planner
5-7 WCL
7-4 Long form

This is almost precisely how HLN does their weekday programming now.

One thing I think that also should really be changed is the sky conditions classifications. Instead of using NWS Directive 10-503 which classifies Sunny the same as Mostly Clear and Mostly Sunny the same as Partly Cloudy, they should just go back to measuring cloud cover by the 8th's like what it says in the NWS' glossary. Makes much better sense to me and I rarely even see "Clear" being used anymore other than the west coast even when there's not a single cloud in the sky.
