TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Comcast Sucks.
« on: July 08, 2010, 11:36:44 AM »
Comcast lied to us about Southern Jersey having 50 extra HD channels including TWC HD. I watched the local intellistar yesterday and saw TWC working there (the Avalon glitch still hasn't been fixed) but TWC HD doesn't appear on the channel listings yet.
Still don't have it here yet either. Comcast Lower Bucks has at least 50-75 more HD channels than Comcast Garden State. :hammer:

Well, they just fired Keneely this week, so no one there seems safe!
Do you work for TWC by any chance?

Nothing new. TWC used countless banners for their maps from around late 2006 until the HD relaunch.

Finally upgraded my old SA box from 2000 to a brand new one that uses the Cisco branding (after SA was acquired in 2005). It's smaller, a LOT faster, and I also get some HD channels. :D

Everything Else TWC / Re: Redesigned website coming soon!

My friend just told me he is redirected automatically to the new weather.com, but I'm still getting to the old one unless if I manually enter in preview.weather.com.

Weather underground is even worse. They reported the temperature down in Atlantic City as 111..when it was really 101 from the NWS (correct reading). And TWC recorded it as 94 and that's not right because it felt way more hotter than that.
Weather underground is very inaccurate, I don't trust it at all. I only use TWC and sometimes NWS and AccuWeather.

Weatherscan Discussion / Re: Weatherscan Topic
« on: July 06, 2010, 11:07:25 PM »
If only they could at LEAST change the playlist on Weatherscan, it isn't that hard to do. Or even just revert back to one of the previous playlists, such as the 2005-2006 one (my favorite).

The NWS is another site well overdue for updates. It has barely ever been touched since I started using it in 2004. :o

Now a 30-50% chance of development:

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
200 PM EDT TUE JUL 6 2010

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

1. A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHERN YUCATAN PENINSULA AND
THE SOUTH CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO IS PRODUCING A LARGE AREA OF
DISORGANIZED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE NORTHWESTERN
CARIBBEAN SEA...THE YUCATAN PENINSULA...AND PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN
GULF OF MEXICO.  ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS APPEAR MARGINALLY
CONDUCIVE FOR SLOW DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM AS IT MOVES
WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH.  THERE IS A MEDIUM CHANCE...30
PERCENT...OF THIS SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.  REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL
AND GUSTY WINDS ARE POSSIBLE OVER PORTIONS OF THE YUCATAN PENINSULA
THROUGH TONIGHT.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.

Hurricane Central / Re: Invest 95L
« on: July 06, 2010, 07:17:59 PM »
The two numbers go from 90 to 99 and repeat for each invest throughout the world.  I don't know why they chose those numbers alone, but that's how it's done.  The last letter indicates what basin the invest is located.  L stands for the Atlantic, E stands for the Eastern Pacific, and C stands for the Central Pacific.  Hope that helps!
Ah, I see. Odd how they chose those numbers. I thought it had something to do with the coordinates of where the invest is located. Thanks for your help. :)

Yea but the past is the past I suppose. Funny how everyone "hated" the previous icon set and now that the icons have a more XL look people still hate them  :hammer:
I think what throws people off the most is the same icons are used for several different conditions (i.e. showers/light rain, and rain use the same icon, as well as drizzle/few showers, thunderstorms/strong thunderstorms, and isolated/scattered to name a few).

Is anyone else automatically being directed to the new site when they type in www.weather.com? :dunno: This is probably intentional, but I thought the site wasn't supposed to launch for nine days.
Nope, it still links me to the old site.
