I had Weatherscan on Basic Comcast cable. It was on CH 85. This was back in 2000.

Me too! Weatherscan came on channel 85 right after Comcast took over Suburban Cable here. In 2002 it was moved to 117, then in 2004 to 119, and in 2005 to 120.

I really wish I recorded more Weatherscan XL clips.

I love the Travel and Airport segments. I also miss the Gardening segment I am not sure if we still have that. Haven't watched Weatherscan in 3 years.

South Jersey never had Garden AFAIK, or any of the "seasonal" segments. We get all the segments here though (except int'l forecast, which seems to be rare to have).

Still, they HAVE WEATHERSCAN! Comcast got rid of it i believe. I want it for weatherscan plus I like to see the whacky flavors of the intellistar that fios viewers get.

Do you have Fios in your area, Mike?

The problem with their Weatherscans is that there are forecasts for so many cities that some headends don't have the lifestyles packages (not even Travel and Airport!). I enjoy seeing those lifestyle segments and would miss them if we switch (another con for fios).

I'm not sure to be honest. I just want an IntelliStar over the satellite local forecast. I LOVE locality.  My dad might be switching us to cable next week, DirecTV costs too much money for us. I don't like Comcast though.

When I get Fios, I'll be switching to it in a heartbeat.

FiOS? They aren't nearly as local as other companies. I believe A.C. viewers get the forecast for Newark (80+ miles away). 

That's the main reason why I refuse to switch to FiOS (I know, odd reason), but my parents really want to switch so I don't know what to do. I don't want to tell them that I don't want FiOS just because I'm getting a forecast for a city that's more than 20 miles away.

It's not going anywhere. The segment involves sponsored locations and TWC makes money out of them. Though, I wish it had a lower priority level, as the almanac, daypart, and metro forecasts are more useful IMO.

But Atlantic City is a popular destination. If its changed on your STAR it will change on everyone else's, making the segment useless for people traveling to the beach. Quite frankly, I don't think it's that much of a problem.
