Weatherscan Discussion / Comcast Question
« on: July 15, 2010, 04:58:07 PM »
Does anyone how I can contact Comcast to request a change to my Weatherscan? I tried calling both 1-800-Comcast and tried contacting my headend via email, but they keep telling me I have to contact TWC for these changes when I know the company has to request the changes.

General Discussion / Tuner skips while recording
« on: June 22, 2010, 06:13:32 PM »
I use an ATI tuner on my XP desktop, which has been flawless for me up until today. Whenever I record, the tuner starts skipping and my videos turn out horrible. I've tried everything to help solve this, such as quitting processes that may use up CPU and system usages, and restarting/shutting down my computer several times and nothing is working. Any ideas?

WeatherSTAR Tech Support / 21876
« on: June 21, 2010, 09:27:54 AM »
Hello STAR team,

I was vacationing at the shore yesterday and have noticed that Atlantic City is listed twice on the lower display line on this IntelliStar. Could this be fixed? I would suggest changing one of them to Wildwood, as this is a well-traveled to destination, and also since there aren't any locations in Cape May county (what this STAR mainly serves) listed on the LDL. The other city is Egg Harbor City which I'm okay with, unless you had something else in mind.

Let me know, if possible, what changes you have made, as I won't be seeing this STAR again for another couple of weeks.

Thanks!

Everything Else TWC / TWC Poll
« on: June 11, 2010, 11:45:46 PM »
I'm curious since a lot of people have mixed feelings about TWC, so I figured it would make sense to make a poll here. I would like everyone to vote and to give their own, personal, honest opinion without stating what the average viewer prefers. :)

I rate it a 2, simply because of its lack of music variety, delays on playlist changes, poor production skills, excessive longform, not focusing on weather anymore, and replacing a lot of its good OCMs with poorly talented ones. Just to name a few. That's why I go to mainly weather.com now and nothing else.

Here's an interesting article in regards to what happens with the oil mess in the Gulf when tropical cyclones go near it...

TWC and your Cable Company / Cable Boxes
« on: April 26, 2010, 11:02:19 PM »
Since set top boxes seem to vary by cable company and headend, I figured I'd post a thread where you can post what kind you guys use. I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 that's about ten years old that came from a contractor. While it is slow, it still serves me well.

General Weather Chat / NWS Question
« on: April 10, 2010, 11:42:03 AM »
Does anyone remember how the NWS would post bulletins on their text-based forecasts that would include information mentioning that record highs or lows are possible, or how high or low the heat indices or wind chills would be? This type of data would appear on the XL and IntelliStar's weather bulletin and I found it quite useful. They stopped doing this around 2004 or so and I'm clueless as to why they stopped that. Anyone remember this?

General Discussion / Laptop Fan keeps going on and off...
« on: April 03, 2010, 11:02:56 PM »
Ever since I bought my HP/Vista laptop last August, its fan has been annoying the hell out of me. It randomly goes on and off even when it isn't hot at all. It also goes on at different speeds. Sometimes it's quiet, and sometimes it's really loud. It can also remain running for minutes, or it goes on and off every couple seconds. Is there a solution to this, perhaps a way I can disable the fan? I'm really getting aggravated by this.  <_<

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / A few errors to report
« on: April 02, 2010, 11:37:53 AM »
Figured I'd post this here since TWCC's forums are slated to be closed.

All of these errors are from the video section:

12/5/99 - The song in this is not "In My Heart," but actually "Same Attitude."
9/1/00 - This video doesn't work when I use the web-based player, and it turns out really small when I try to view it externally.

Also, in the 2004 section, there are two videos that don't belong on there. The one labeled as February 14 was actually recorded on August 30, 2002, and the December 26 video was recorded in 1999.
