Everything Else TWC / Few and scattered showers
« on: August 23, 2007, 04:40:01 PM »
I see TWC user either "few showers" or "scattered showers" in the forecast when there is a chance for showers. Can someone tell me in simple terms what the difference is between "few" and "scattered"? I mean, doesn't scattered showers mean only a few showers will be in the area? I tried searching this but it gives me definitions that confuse me. I need to know so I know which of the two icons (few and scattered) to use in my weather reports when the forecast calls for a chance for showers.

Everything Else TWC / When did you first discover TWC?
« on: August 23, 2007, 12:33:16 AM »
When did you guys discover TWC?

I first saw it in 1997, then began watching it more and became a fan of the network by 1999. I was an even more frequent watcher and started watching it almost everyday by 2002. I remember watching Your Weather Today every morning before school when I was in fourth and fifth grade.

As for Weatherscan, I first saw that channel when it came to my area in early 2001 and I have been a pretty frequent watcher since it premiered. I have always liked the music on there and the graphics on Weatherscan, especially before February 2005.

General Discussion / Major iBook problems
« on: August 19, 2007, 10:59:57 AM »
I have a Mac iBook G4 that I purchased about three years ago. Lately I have been experiencing some problems with it and would like to see if anyone here can help before I ask in the Apple forums.

First off, in the past several months my trackpad has been acting weird. When I try to move it, it then moves by itself to the right side of the screen when I let go of the touchpad. The touchpad is a bit worn off so I'm not sure if this would be normal for a worn-off touchpad.

Secondly, in recent weeks there has been this transluscent screen that appears on my computer's screen when I wake it from sleep saying that I need to restart my computer by holding the power button. This has happened twice in the past week. Anyone know why this is happening? I hope this isn't a failure with my computer.

Also, I have a question. Would it be possible if Apple or someone else to replace my iBook's harddrive with a larger one? Right now it has a 30 GB and I don't have a lot of space left. If I happen to upgrade to the upcoming OS, 10.5 (which requires 7 GB of space), I will only have about a quarter or so of space left.

Thanks for any help you guys provide.

General Discussion / Mac Question
« on: August 15, 2007, 03:52:59 PM »
Does anyone know any programs that allow me to choose different startup tones for my Mac? I'd like to change mine to one of the classic tones. I tried Googling and had no luck.

OCMs & Personalities / Same hairdue
« on: August 08, 2007, 08:57:32 PM »
I hate it how TWC has all the female OCM's have very simular hairdues. It was much better back in the old days when they all had different hairdues. Who agrees?

I hope when Terry Connelly gets eliminated the female OCM's will change, perhaps back the way they were.

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Problems on this site with Firefox
« on: August 08, 2007, 11:02:20 AM »
When I logon, I set it so I stay logged on forever (until the cookies expire), mainly because I am too lazy to enter my username and password all the time :P. However, whenever I view this site again with Firefox, I am logged out. Then, when I click in one of the subforums of this site, I somehow get logged in again automatically. This doesn't happen with Internet Explorer. Any idea what's wrong?

General Discussion / Free converter for videos
« on: July 19, 2007, 11:17:29 PM »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew any good completely free (not trials) programs that converts video formats to MPEG4's, which is the file required in order to work on the iPod. So far I tried a program called simply "Free iPod Video Converter" by Jodix and I often get an error saying "the memory could not be read. click OK to terminate the program." Thanks for your help.

Local Forecast / New 7and5 album
« on: July 18, 2007, 10:24:03 PM »
I was browsing through iTunes and found a new album by 7and5 called "Trading Stories," released last month. I like some of the songs on there. My favorites are Trading Stories and Beautiful Days. I just purchased those two songs from the store. Hopefully the songs from this new album will make their way to TWC. I think some of the songs would sound good on the local forecast. B)

Everything Else TWC / TWC Book
« on: July 05, 2007, 04:00:03 PM »
Does anyone know where I can buy TWC's "Improbably Rise of a Media Phenomenon" book, released in 2002? I haven't seen it in book stores. I don't have a PayPal account or anything (nor do I really want to), so I can't really buy one online.
