General Discussion / Music Choice lineup changes on April 15
« on: April 05, 2009, 11:33:40 AM »
I don't know if there are any Music Choice fans here, but on April 15 there will be some channel additions, name changes, and merges. Here is the new lineup effective April 15. This is Charter's lineup but it should be the same elsewhere (just different channel numbers). Don't worry, no changes are slated for the smooth jazz channel.

Help and Support / Need new key
« on: March 18, 2009, 11:03:08 PM »
Hello, sorry if this was asked before but my key has expired, and my old key is still in the configuration panel. I don't see a link to get a new key either. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / Companies that may not survive in 2009
« on: February 13, 2009, 10:20:54 AM »
Found an interesting article about companies that may not survive this year if the economy continues to worsen. They include Rite Aid, Blockbuster, Six Flags, and even Sirius/XM Radio!

General Weather Chat / Earliest weather event you remember
« on: February 01, 2009, 01:34:48 PM »
Here's an interesting topic: What is the earliest weather event you remember?

The earliest I remember was an F2 tornado that struck near my former hometown of Bensalem, PA during a severe weather outbreak back in 1998. This was a few miles away so the area I lived didn't get hit as hard, other than a down tree a few blocks from my house. Also, I think a few roof shingles fell off my house (the roof was nearly 50 years old at the time so we weren't that surprised). The roof was since replaced when our house was modernized in 2000. Our power was also out for a couple hours that night. The tornado dissipated just before the Philadelphia/Bensalem border. If it stayed on the ground any longer, it would of likely approach Bensalem and we'd would of gotten a lot more damage. Altogether 35 commercial buildings and ten homes were damaged, and the storm caused $1.8 million in damage. (source)

General Discussion / Lisa Bloom leaving In Session
« on: January 23, 2009, 08:22:05 PM »
According to the following article (actually published a few weeks ago), Lisa Bloom will be leaving truTV's In Session to move to LA to be closer to her family. Hopefully they'll find another host to replace her on Open Court (what is says on the article) and not discontinue it and thus cut back their trial coverage even more.

General Discussion / Tuner skips while recording
« on: December 26, 2008, 12:04:51 PM »
I just got an EyeTV hybrid USB tuner for my iBook G4 and I have problems with it when I record. It often skips and jumps (doesn't record every frame) when it records and makes the videos look like crap. This doesn't happen when I just view the TV, it just does it when I record. Does anyone know how I can prevent this from happening? My computer has more RAM (768 MB) than what they reccommend (256 MB), and I have no other programs open when I record. I also tried rebooting and that didn't work. All of my computer's other specs meet the software's system requirements.

General Discussion / New Years Resolutions
« on: December 23, 2008, 12:18:08 PM »
With 2009 quickly approaching, do you guys have any resolutions for the year?

Mine are:

1) Cut back computer time - I've already started doing this as you guys can probably tell (I'm not online as often)

2) Improving my social interaction by meeting new people, again I've improved on this quite well since the start of the school year, but I still need to work on this.

3) Straighten my teeth out by starting orthodontics. I've been due to get braces for nearly five years now and I have still yet to get them.

Everything Else TWC / Weather.com Discussion
« on: November 23, 2008, 12:50:29 PM »
I figured I'd start a thread to discuss everything about weather.com.

I noticed the other day that the hourly forecast on weather.com was updated, now showing a 15-minute forecast trend for the next hour. Also, the forecast graph on the hourly forecast finally uses the current icons (up until last week it was still using the old 1998 icons). Pretty neat.

TWC Fan Art / Mike's Concepts/Artwork

Personally, I don't find the way Weatherscan currently looks when it is in severe weather mode. It doesn't get viewers much attention that severe weather is occuring because the only difference is the crawl, and the grey local radar banner. The L-bar colors stay the same.

Here's what I think Weatherscan should look like during severe wx mode. Comments?

General Emulator Discussion / Mac version?
« on: November 11, 2008, 09:51:49 PM »
Is it possible to create a MAC version of the emulator? I have one (in addition to my PC) and would use it if a Mac version were available. I'm not always at my PC and my laptop is a Mac.

Emulator Videos / Weatherscan Local Emulator
« on: November 07, 2008, 02:12:54 PM »
Here is a clip
of my Weatherscan Emulator, configured for Cherry Hill area (based on how I remember Cherry Hill's Weatherscan was configured at the time). I apologize for the horrible quality; used an alternative computer that is slower than mine.

I will also post clips of my Weatherscan Emulator configured as how my Bucks County Weatherscan looked like, since I remember everything about that Weatherscan since I have video of it.
