General Discussion / Re: Music Artists that you Loathe / Hate
« on: July 17, 2009, 02:21:51 PM »
I remember seeing a thread like this a while back on TWCC... Be prepared ...

-100% any rap/hip hop.... its garbage and may be a large contributor to the demise of America's youth. I consider it noise pollution

-any type of boohoo /antagonistic/break up song.. like the one who writes "im not gonna write u a love song" or some crap like that and the stupid cheating song by carrie underwood.. i mean get over it, ya know?

-any type of vulgar song

-any type of vocal song, period. I dont hate vocals (like the extent that I hate rap/hip hop), but I never been a big fan of lyrics anyways...I wouldnt buy an all vocal CD :P and less than 5% if my music collection has  vocals

-and any of the above already mentioned previously in this thread as well

Congratulations! :D
I am starting my meteorology studies this fall, and cannot wait!

Are you looking for a job as a broadcast meteorologist, or more National Weather Service work?

More National Weather Service.... three vacancies are in Springfield MO, Jackson KY and Duluth MN.. working with the AWIPS system and producing the forecasts, narration on NOAA weather radio and  stuff like that.
I have gone through so much stuff over the past 10 years or, living my life for other people and putting my career off.... its about bloody time I did something for myself, for my maturity, peace of mind, etc.... so I am really looking forward to getting one of these positions
since these positions are intern positions, and i have no experience, I believe that I can gain a lot of it by working there, also a huge boost for my resume (which is bare).

For those of you who know. I had graduated with a degree in Atmospheric Science from Ohio State in 1999. i went thru a lot of personal things, setbacks and delays, the likes of which I wont expound upon here.

Any ways I went to USAJobs.com and found a few "intern" (startup) vacancies for a Metorologist. Three positions, one in Jackson KY, one in Springfield MO and another in Duluth MN. I am excited becasue for the first time in nearly 10 years, I will be doing something in my field and actually feel good about myself  B)

I sumbitted all necessary paperwork, and I verified that it was submitted, all I am doing right now is waiting for a response. Wish me luck, I am going to need it. In as little as 6 weeks I might be living outside Ohio! woohoo! I am looking forward to it!

I had a feeling this was going to happen. I think I have said it before. TWC is going the way of most of Corporate America. Dont get me wrong I have been a loyal viewer for 18 years now, and have over 850 CD's with TWC showcase music. TWC is now owned by NBC, a member of what I call "the media elite" who serve as "gatekeepers " who dictate the culture and popular trends here in America. They are catering to a certain demographics' musical preferences (young people, women in particular - so to speak), in order to gain greater viewership (ratings). It is a bummer for those of us fond of TWC at its finest (1982-1999 IMO). I still watch TWC, mainly for the weather and Atmospheric Science part of it. However, they have become just another pop culture drone.

« on: May 30, 2009, 10:56:10 AM »
I havent had TWC since March 23 but have been keeping tabs on here... seems like there are quite a few vocal tracks on this playlist... or at least a lot of vocal CD's listed. I suspect NBC is just trying to appeal to a certain demographic (young women and/or the female audience at large), which most U.S. corporations do, and switch the TWC LF genre from Jazz to Primarily Rock or Techno might just be one of those moves in that "marketing" ploy. It doesnt make sense (at least at first glance) b/c it is weather related, but then again, I could be wrong
