Here's a quick update on the tropics:  Tropical Depression #8 did form near the Cape Verde Islands yesterday, but it has quickly dissipated today.  Thus, the Atlantic continues to be very inactive with only 8 tropical depressions, 6 tropical storms, 2 hurricanes, and 2 major hurricanes.  The Eastern Pacific, however, has been quite active with 17 tropical depressions, 14 tropical storms, 6 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes.

Yeah, I believe at the Eastern Pacific we have TS Nora active right now.

Ahh, good times at my old high school at my hometown. There are *some* people that love to pull down the fire drill just for fun...and that the security guards come in to the classrooms randomly to see which fire alarm was pulled. Goooooood times.

There's one place near me where there's two Dairy Queens within a half-mile of each other.

Wow...that's very close!
There used to be two Starbucks like 3/4's of a mile close to each other in Calexico! One was next to Walmart, and another was at a small shopping center. The one at Walmart had to be shut down because supposedly the popularity and the customer satisfaction showed all. I also thought it was a bad idea to open a Starbucks right across the street from a previously opened Starbucks.

How about some college football.

Unranked South Carolina just creamed #4 ranked Mississippi with a score of 10-16. This is what I expected all week. Now Mississippi will say goodbye to the top 5.

I grew up with Dairy Queen as my family loves that place.  Here are my favorite three desserts from there:

  • Oreo Blizzard
  • Hot Fudge and Marshmallow Sundae
  • Brownie Earthquake

*mumbles something about wanting a Pumpkin Pie/Crunch blizzard from Dairy Queen*
The nearest DQ from my dad's (and actually the only standalone DQ in the area) closed :(
They are quite sparsely placed, the only one that is easily found in the Lansing area is on the south side in an area that is not all that great.

We have one here in Podunk West Plains. And one in Thayer. And Cabool. And Salem. And Mountain Home.  That's just within 50 miles or so. They are EVERYWHERE in this area.

The nearest DQ is in Mexicali....Mexico.
