So today my college and the club I'm in, The IVC Adventure Club, held it's 3rd annual Staff/Faculty vs Students softball game. For me, the game looked more like BASEBALL because 99.99% of the Students team were guys (yes I was the only female, but hey, I'm used to it). My Political Science professor and my former Astronomy professor participated at the Staff/Faculty team, and man, do they looooove to tease me.  I became Asst. Captain for the Students team. We were beating the Staff/Faculty BIG TIME throughout the first 5 innings, but with a home run made by a CIS professor, the score skyrocketed. We were down by 8, and it was impossible to get back on board. Final score was 14-6. BUT...I'm not too sad about that, the students and I will try harder next year.

Hope to see you soon. I will miss you because I might need you for when it gets cold down here. :(

Now for my own side of things, we got our first cold front today (still cloudy now though), and boy was the rain coverage far different than what got said on both weather.com and my local news stations. :noexpression: <--- (sorry Ana, I had to use it :P)

Meh, you can have the emoticon.  <----this is my new favorite.

It doesnt look too bad. Never a fan of long-form but if it will replace some of those countless re-runs they show now, anything is good

Yes, I agree as well. I want to see something new during those 2-3 hours of long form! I've had enough of Storm Stories, Full Force Nature, When Weather Changes History, etc.
That, and WeatherProof are two shows I do look forward to.

Wow, everything mentioned today just makes me so sad. :(  I'm beginning to wonder what TWC now considers newsworthy.  It used to be everything solely dedicated to the weather 24/7.  Today, we're lucky to see actual segments devoted entirely to the weather on an hourly basis.  I agree that the media and the police did a poor job of checking all their sources and searching everything.  However, TWC should be more concerned about the unusually early winter storm warnings currently in effect for PA and the flood warnings ongoing in the Southeast.  These stories are actually about the weather, which is what TWC is responsible for covering, and these stories have far more impact than one kid allegedly being flown away in a balloon.

Everyone better start checking NWS and other weather media more closely this winter as I'm not sure if TWC is prepared to handle the wacky weather we're going to see across the country thanks to El Niņo.  I really hope that I'm wrong here, but the early signs are not promising.

I'm starting to go into wunderground. I hardly check TWC anymore.
It just looks like TWC isnt too serious about the upcoming nor'easters like in the previous years. Once some wacky story like this pops up they immediately go into non-stop coverage like Storm Alert coverage. Seriously, we don't want this.

Can't tell who the other person is.
What other person?
She's wondering who is the other person kissing Alex.

That's probably one of the producers, can't tell which one.

So I was at the library today (and using the computers there since wifi there was ugh.) and one of the computers had XP instead of Vista. It was pretty cool. Plus they had Firefox in them! :O I tried out the firefox, and OMG, I wish I had this browser........

Thanks for the kind words and best wishes on my move.  Many of you within TWCT are my only friends that are still in touch with me as all my real-life friends have moved away from here or are unavailable as they're so busy, so I really appreciate the support from everyone here.

Oh Patrick! We're always here for you!   :hug2:

I agree Ana. This is the WORST I have ever seen TWC do.

3:40-4:25 Balloon Boy coverage without commercials and lf
4:25-6:12 Balloon Boy coverage with commercials and lf. No weather segments at all
6:13- Awkward moment with NBC reporter who says it was all a joke.

That's an awful lot of pointless coverage there.

I totally agree with Ana and Martin. We have a really bad nor'easter hitting us right now,and as Ana said, calling for a double. The flooding is gonna get really bad here, and all they're talking about is a  :censored: balloon boy story. I watched my local news at 6:00.They spent about 1 minute on the story(if it was even that long). But TWC spends 3 hours talking about it.That was wayyyy too ridiculous!  :club:

For me, only my NBC affilate has "expanded" the story.

Who needs evening sitcoms for comedy, drama, or romance when you got WeatherCenter?  They give you everything plus your local forecast in one show! :P
Yes, you surely got that right!!
I always get some kind of enjoyment out of WC every time I watch it!!
Especially Jim Cantore and his "hits" on Alexandra Steele(although he hasn't done any in a while) :bleh:

Probably it's because he's been out on the field a lot lately.

Wow, I missed quite some action...

Just heard about this "balloon boy" story as I left Music class, and hearing that TWC was covering it, I was like WTF. They need to cover an upcoming nor'easter (or possibly DOUBLE) today and throughout this weekend and now I hear that Today's top story is OMG A BOY GOT STUCK INSIDE A BALLOON. uhh, where's the  :censored: weather in this story?

* Anistorm gets some more news.

Oh, he lied. BS!!!! O M FREAKIN G. This makes me even more mad. Covering a pointless story that has nothing to do with weather. This is even worse than WUWA IMO. This is what I have seen as the BIGGEST FAIL EVER. TWC, you fail as a weather news network. Nuff said.

* Anistorm ends her rant, then gets on her bus to go home.

i actually fall asleep after WUWA comes on.. i guess it defeats the purpose of waking up.. ;) i would mention if it wasnt for the small bit of news that WUWA delivers, I would just know whats going on with the weather. its always great to know about the nasa launch being grounded or that crazy hat contest stuff.. haha..

I now watch it, then I sneeze.  :bleh: I just wait till 8 my time to turn on my TV.

It's been getting rather cold and lonely here in Albany, so I'll be moving back home to WV with my family on October 23.  My lease is expiring at the end of this month, and I still haven't had much success with the job search yet. :(  I'm still trying to land a NWS job although things are going very slow now.  I was just turned down again during a recent interview, so things aren't going well for me.  I won't be online during the later part of next week as I disconnect everything.  Hopefully, I'll be able to return here just before Halloween.

I'm really sorry about that, Patrick. I wish the best of luck on your move...I do hope something else will pop up sooner... :(
