General Discussion / 9/11/01: It's been 10 years...
« on: September 11, 2011, 12:17:03 PM »
We're having a similar discussion like this at another forum, so why not have a similar one here?

Well, today marks the 10th anniversary of the worst day that has occurred in America: 9/11.  2,996 or so people died in these horrible, horrible attacks, and today we remember the heroes that did what they could and the day we reacted to this awful situation. Today, we pay respects to the fallen innocent victims, and we thank the heroes with their service. Keep the families of the victims in your thoughts and prayers, as they are going through a tough moment.

*moment of silence*

So, post your thoughts, memories, or anything you'd like to discuss about today's anniversary. Instead of having to get everything cluttered at the FP, I think a new topic is best. ~

Speaking of Tron Legacy, I am now listening to End of Line. Haha!

What was the outage associated with? I never could find out from anybody.

Some worker in AZ short-circuited the power and made the whole region (let alone most of AZ and SoCal) go dark.

Just survived the worst power outage of my life. Took the trolley to school today instead of driving, ended up getting stuck at the station for 2-3 hours with very limited cellphone service. Peanut butter sandwiches were for dinner tonight, since there was nothing to heat up. Good thing about this is that my school cancelled classes for Friday (sucks because I wanted to see the ending of Tron Legacy! >_<)

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Suggestion: Revival Rule
« on: August 28, 2011, 04:19:57 PM »
I remember making a topic about bumping topics and stuff....well this is sorta similar to what I'm about to shout out say.

I've noticed that this thread was done almost three years ago, and some guest went ahead and bumped it. Which made me scream thinking she's pregnant, but turns out that this guest was just there to spam. >_> Wouldn't it be possible that there should be some sort of a "rule" about reviving threads that are really, really, really old? Not like 60-days-old threads, but 2-3 year-old threads?

Discuss. I'm tired of getting bummed by super old threads that make me think they're new topics.

I'm thinking of heading to Duckville EC for the holiday weekend. It depends. I could really use a break from all the stuff I've been doing lately.

It's been two weeks since I started school, Patrick...so I don't count. :P But for those that are going to start school...good luck! Especially for those starting college for the first time. Usually the first few weeks are going to be really, really, really, really, really hectic like Patrick mentioned. Like I always say to the new members I welcome at another forum I moderate: take a deep breath, and take your time exploring. [College] is quite a large place to be, and can be overwhelming. But in the future, you'll be fine!

I feel what seems to be an earthquake everytime our washer goes into the final spin...

That's normal for those that felt it for the first time. It'll wear off in a week, typically.

This is why I stopped uploading LF videos on Youtube.

Guys, I officially hate Photobucket. Everytime I try to put an image as my signature or avatar (you know, I'm a brony...gotta have my Ponies), the bandwidth exceeds and it's just... stoopid. I want to upload it on tinypic but the images becomes a jpg extension. and that's also stoopid.

Oh, and look what my awesome Buizel friend made for me. <3 It totally relates to my two loves: Twilight Sparkle and science.

Welcome to my world.  :bleh:

I understand that it's quite rare for an earthquake that strong to strike the eastern US. On my scale, a 5.8 or a 5.9 is strong, so I know how you guys feel, actually. since there has been quite a few aftershocks from 2010's 7.2 quake, I've grown to get used to it.

I've seen the videos, the pictures, even some live coverage of the quake, and I'm quite shocked. It's understandable that most buildings can't stand earthquakes that strong.

SO DID ANYONE HAD FUN? :D

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Central 2011
« on: August 23, 2011, 12:38:30 PM »
So that contract I signed in blood wasn't for THIS forum?  Well... good to know, anyway.  :)

No, I very seriously doubt I'll have to evacuate.  I'm actually quite a distance from the coast, so I certainly hope flooding isn't going to be an issue.  How long the electricity will stay on - that's a question.  But I already have plenty of batteries, flashlights, radios, tinned food, and so on, so I'll be fine.

It's best to be prepared for a hurricane like this juuuuust in case. Glad to see that you're ready for the storm :) I hope it doesn't affect your area too much.

Alright...I sorta take my last post back. Probably because I haven't been following Irene that much until now. Though I have to agree, it's been a while since TWC covered a major hurricane and this could be pretty much it.

...I thought SA was replaced by Red Mode. Didn't we discuss this a loooong time ago?

I honestly think they wouldn't go THAT hyped about Irene.
