Is anyone's local sidebar working? Mine isn't and the national one is only showing airport information and nothing else.

The IS2 Sidebar is intentionally disabled to display Thanksgiving travel information.

Today is the 1 year anniversary since TWC relaunched and I can honestly say that the channel is worse off than it was a year ago due to the following reasons:

*The deduction of Live Weather Programming hours
*The increase of reality shows that mostly have nothing to do with weather
*AMHQ
*The way they handled DirecTV removing TWC.
*The way they handled Severe Weather Coverage (Barely anyone watches the Dual-Feed)
*The decrease of forecast segments in favor of taped, fluff and non-weather segments on WCL. Some segments aired on WCL are parts of Long-Form Shows.
*Dumbing down the LOT8s.
*Dumbing down the graphics
*Numerous changes that are unnecessary (The Lab)
*TWC bragging how "Amazing" weather and science is. They spent too many times explaining the science "behind" weather instead of forecasting it.

I mostly blame CEO David Kenny for this as TWC wasn't this bad before he arrived. I hope that NBC removes him soon or sell TWC.

That is sad but I do hope cable and satellite companies will challenge TWC. With the layoffs of producers, will TWC even have enough employees and resources to pre-empt reality programming on weekends during severe weather? And will Weather Geeks air tomorrow?

It looks like there will be more changes to live programming this weekend. From this tweet, Bonnie Schneider and Mark Eliott are anchoring from 9 to 12 noon eastern tomorrow. I'm assuming this means that the 12-2pm hours have been cut. I'm guessing Alex and Jen will do 5 to 9 (since TWC quietly pulled the plug on the 4am hour in the middle of this week.)

If this turns out to be true, than that's a shame. Ever since David Kenny took over as CEO of TWC, it has gone in a downhill slide with the addition of reality shows, dumbing down the LOT8s, decreasing Live Programming,. AMHQ and the increase of taped. fluff and non-weather segments during WCL. He really needs to go and be replaced.

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/weather-channel-cuts-40-more-staffers_b244867

"Pink slips are being handed out this morning at the Weather Channel. As many as 40 staffers are being cut from the ranks of senior producers, show producers, and weather producers"

Someone name Rich who claims to be a Former OCM said this in the comment section of the article:

"I was one of the OCM's that was let go during the second round of layoffs in 2009. It's very sad to see what has happened to this company. At one time it was the best place to work."

Scott Warren, who was the Senior EP of Sam Champion‘s Weather Channel show, is no longer with the channel. Warren had been with Weather Channel for a year.

TWC Renews ‘Fat Guys in the Woods’ for Season Two

The Weather Channel has picked-up reality/survivalist series “Fat Guys in the Woods” for a second season, with production set to begin in November for a premiere in second quarter 2015. Hosted by survival expert Creek Stewart, “Fat Guys in the Woods” takes groups of three average Joes into the woods to battle Mother Nature and teach them the art of outdoor survival while armed with only the basic of tools. Next season will feature new locations, different weather conditions and women joining the mix.

Why on earth would TWC renew these kind of shows that no one watches and no one likes?

I just noticed that weather.com just recently updated the bios of their personalities:

I noticed that Danielle Banks, Dave Schwartz and Kyla Grogan are still missing from that page.

I predict the show will be canceled or relaunched. The show gets less viewers than WUWA tells how this show is a disaster. TWC needs to add more weather segments and less taped reports as well as removing the Pop Culture and Sports Segments.
