Maybe they've thrown out Storm Alert and they have a new different mode to go into.

They will be in their current mode until tomorrow. I think they will go into Alert Mode during Weekend View at 7ET.

EDIT:  "For those who don't regularly watch The Weather Channel, when you see Jim Cantore in your town, you pack up the station wagon and run like hell."

That is what I would do... or maybe something else...

Say, how is TWC covering Gustav? I am not watching them, but I have a feeling they have the radar insets as I speak. It does look like Gustav will make landfall as a major hurricane. I wonder how TWC will conduct their coverage then.

So the 2 hours of long-form programming are not temporary. They actually began to advertise it. This is  :censored:. Pairing it with Forecast Hippie will make it much worse.

Have you ever watched a TV show or movie and heard/seen The Weather Channel? I did when I saw a 2000 rerun of ER/ In the beginning of an episode, I heard Bob Stokes doing rhe weather. He wasn't seen, though.

Why are they talking about Chicago weather all of a sudden when they are on tropical hype mode?

It's deja vu with Dolly from last week. Lord knows I can't watch TWC until December.

Local Forecast / Re: IntelliStar degradation for real!

My local radar just showed a rainbow of colors covering the whole screen! I never seen anything like that before.
Was it because there was rain and ice everywhere or was it a graphical glitch?

Why do you think so? Were Kim and Kevin both supposed to be there for the HD debut? I saw Dave filling in on Saturday.

I hated the 2005 BWTL Tropical pdate package. The orchestral doom music, the biggest lower-thirds i have ever seen, and the rain-on-window effect rubs me the wrong way somehow.

I think they have no criteria for going into Hell mode, only when they feel like it.

The Game Room / Guess When TWC Will Go Into storm Alert
« on: July 22, 2008, 08:11:18 PM »
This game might have been done in 2006 for TWC's hyperbole coverage for alberto and ernesto, but it is inevitable TWC will push the red button to go into alert mode. What is your prediction?

My prediction: EEWC tonight

...which proves that they are just hyperventalating over the forgettable tropical storm. It isn't expected to strike the entire Gulf coast, but just a small section of coastal Texas.

So far, Dolly is still only projected to strike southern Texas.
