the survey i mentioned showed you a few different types of maps, some more detailed than others, some real clean and basic, some in between.. which did you like best,

then each map with a different location  nameplate if you will, in different font and formats, asking which combination you liked..

i dont remember what some of the other questions were though

i actually remember a few months ago they sent out an email survey asking about the types of maps and fonts did you like.. it looks like they took that feedback for this update

considering they stopped actually using the L bar outside of the radar and ads, not surprising..

came back on saying it was a software attack, and seem to still be  on a partial setup, even the main "L" bar is out of commission

As per an Email They sent out to Insiders:

Starting tomorrow, we will be extending our live coverage by up to 10 minutes per hour, giving you a chance to dig even deeper into the weather affecting you each day!
In order to give you more screen time with your favorite meteorologists from The Weather Channel, we figured out a way to collapse some of our Local on the 8s so that they run during our live segments. Where you used to see our traditional Local on the 8s segments, you will start to see the same weather information displayed along the right side and/or bottom of your screen.

i came across something odd

i have a tv tuner that lets me tune on multiple tvs, so using that i tuned to the weather channel in hd on 1 tv, and the weather channel's SD FEED on the other (both have updated system).. both LOT8's are shown with the same location used, however both seem to have slightly different forecasts/data on them, even current conditions i have seen have been different between the sd and hd feed (temperatures being different, slightly different todays weather description/forecast).. and i noticed that the SD feed has a more detailed radar  than the hd feed does..)

no need for me to bring up the ever popular issue of the  too bright backgrounds causing the weekend forecast  to sometimes be near invisible to read in the extended forecast  b/c its white on top of brightness

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Local on the 8's HD Got Localized
« on: December 19, 2010, 06:47:32 PM »
My Area just got a Localized, not regionalized version of the Local on the 8's HD a few days ago.. It Has Jim Cantore as the Voice Over Reader of the Information on the screen. Kind of stupid though that it always has the radar in the bottom corner, so when the full size radar shows up  you have 2 identical radars on the screen and has no LDL..
