Local Forecast / Looking for music in removed Youtube video
« on: November 20, 2009, 09:16:34 PM »
Hi, I surely haven't been here in forever, and don't think I've forgot about this site. :P

I need your help indentifying this song, but the video is no longer on Youtube.

Does anyone remember that video of a WxSTAR 3000 emulating its final days in late 2004? I'm not sure if this was a holiday themed song or not, and I'm pretty sure it was either primetime/overnight song. The song itself is heavily piano based. That's all I can give, but I'm pretty confident some of our older users here know which video I'm talking about.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Everything Else TWC / The Blue Bar of Death Discussion
« on: June 15, 2009, 05:14:07 PM »
Someone had to step forward and make this topic.

What's the point of it? Taking up more space and shrinking the screen size?

Like the one I just saw.

Local Forecast / STAR Upgrading Question
« on: June 10, 2008, 08:58:52 PM »
For those who have witnessed any kind of STAR upgrade, how long does the outage last? Does it upgrade in a fingersnap or does it take a few days?

I've never seen this happen, thanks.

Everything Else TWC / Skytracker and Interstates
« on: May 26, 2008, 04:05:46 PM »
How come TWC has changed the way skytracker handles the display of interstates? In the old days, the highways would be displayed at a high zoom level, but now they only show up when the counties appear. It looks really awkward without them, as having cities on top of interstates (like Philly or Cleveland) looks streamlined, rather than looking like someone spit them out into the middle of nowhere. And how come some OCMs don't even display them at all? Vivian Brown falls victim to this.

Everything Else TWC / YUCK at Skytracker

What in god's hell did TWC do to my one of my favorite radars? That new font doesn't fit in well at all. Not to mention, Why are those interstate labels this big?

Not to mention, people like Robinson who tilt/rotate it. What's the meaning of that? It gives me headaches to piece the map together. I'm used to seeing my maps flat and upright, not tilted back and flipped upside down.

Local Forecast / Wanna help me with a satellite local forecast timeline?
« on: February 02, 2008, 01:08:04 PM »
I found a timeline similar on Intellistar's Wikipedia page, but there wasn't a whole lot of info relating to the satellite local forecasts. You can add to it as needed, and even the tiniest changes can be added.

I'll start out:

June 2004:

-The graphics are updated for the entire forecast. This includes the removal of the current conditions from the metro forecasts.

July 2004:

-The LDL is added to TWC for satellite viewers, specifically DirecTV at this time. It cycles through the sky/temperature conditions, airport delays, and forecasts for all of the cities seen on the "3 day forecast" segment.

September/October 2004:

-The south central, northwest, and southwest radar/satellite loops are added to the local forecasts.
-I'm not sure on this, but wasn't Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth added to the metro forecasts at the beginning at this time?

August 2005:

-A whole new graphics package for the satellite local forecast. This includes the addition of more cities on the metro forecasts (Minneapolis, Orlando, Miami, Denver, Phoenix, Sacramento, Seattle)

September 2006:

-The satellite LDL is added to TWC for Dish Network viewers.

December 2006:

-Icons are replaced with newer ones on the satellite local forecast, as with the Intellistar

NOT SURE ABOUT THE FOLLOWING: (I believe this was sometime between the redesign in August 2005 to December 2005)

-Additional cities are added to the LDL that are not seen on the 3 day forecasts (Omaha, Honolulu, Albuquerque, and I can't think of any others at the top of my head)

Everything Else TWC / Any weather.com Gold subscribers here?
« on: January 24, 2008, 02:12:18 PM »
Since there are near to no topics regarding weather.com, I thought I'd bring it up here.

Anybody here have a subscription to weather.com Gold? I do, and I think it's a pretty good service. Customized and ad-free.

Local Forecast / July 2004 Playlist
« on: January 19, 2008, 09:18:08 PM »
Hi, I'm really looking for the July 2004 playlist. I did a search on this forum and found nothing relating to it, and out of all of the months, this is the only month TWC does not have for 2004 playlists on their site. I do know three songs from the list and that's it:

String Bean - Brian Hughes
Park Place - Samuel Lincoln
Who U Wit? - Pieces of a Dream

Also, the link on Twctoday to this playlist is broken, so I'm hoping somebody on this forum will have the July 2004 playlist.

Thanks a lot.
