I see where you are coming from and the shows tend to be annoying at times. I was about to lose all hope when they started the movies on Fridays (which are gone yay!) But I have to say TWC is changing and it has only been a year since NBC took over. There have been many things changed and a lot of things not really worked out yet for the future....
My point is, that you cannot strictly rely on a cable channel for EVERYTHING. There are multiple sources for weather information. I advise investing in a NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio. They are not expensive and have been known to save many lives during severe weather. More homes should have them. They turn on automatically when warnings are issued. Some of them can be programmed to only give you warnings you want. Being battery (or handcrank) powered they are wonderful if power is out.
