TWC Today News / Re: LAT48's, part tres

Hi all.  Finally, a "Local Across the 48's" that didn't slip my mind:

If anyone's eager for an XL fix, I doubt you'll be disappointed.  I let the video run a bit longer than usual so I could get in a glimpse of the black bar, among other things.

And yes, it is raining cats and dogs outside right now.  <_<

Thanks for the greetings!  I also joined TWC Classics a few months ago.

Gary, I tried uploading the video but it says that I need to enter a valid email. I ensured that I entered my right address.

That happened to me as well.  I simply broke down and uploaded the video to my own webspace:

The video is an 8.5MB ASF (Windows Media), which I'll probably take down after a few days to save bandwidth.  The forecast in question was taken from a Princeton, WV-area cable headend with an XL.

Programming and Graphics / Re: When did you watch (or like) TWC the most?
« on: September 10, 2007, 07:31:32 PM »
My favorite era of the Weather Channel is 1991 to 1995, coinciding with the "Weather You Can Always Turn To" theme.  The fonts, graphics, and theme music of the early '90s were always my favorite, and the channel itself was as direct and unpretentious then as it ever was.

Nostalgia plays a part, too:  This essentially represents what the Weather Channel was like when I started watching it, and quite a few meteorological events that I remember (Hurricane Andrew, the Blizzard of '93) fell into this era as well.

Programming and Graphics / Re: TWC new icons, to like or not to like

I'm not a fan of the "new" icons...simply because they're not iconic.  They look like ambiguous blobs of color, especially at small sizes.

I just heard about this event.  (Thanks, Billy, for letting me know!)  I'll definitely be taking part:  I have an XL on my headend, so that ought to spruce things up a bit!
