Local Forecast / Re: RIP ~ Real Music

I got a similar note from Brian pointing me to Jeremy. I was afraid we were heading in this direction due to the costs of royalties, etc. It's cheaper and easier to pay someone to be an on-board writer. While I don't agree with it, I can see where they are coming from. We'll see. I'm going to stay on top of it in case things change.

Hey Guys,
You have probably noticed that the local is currently using only two pieces of canned, branded music from some catalog.  Not good.

There's a guy named Jeremy Jones at the Weather Channel in Atlanta who has been put in charge of content.  I sent him an email and left a VM regarding the music situation.

I'd welcome your support.  I'd like to be assigned as their in-house music coordinator (which includes music discovery, acquiring overall licensing deals for labels, artists, publishers and artist representation) or at the very least compose new music for them.   The goal is  to develop and curate their Weather Channel -sound and brand- for all productions (regular programming: pilots, series, specials and promotions, etc. , the whole enchilada).

My degree in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music, the variety of music that I've scored for several films including 'Assassination Tango',  combined with all of the music that I've written for them in the past ~ should be enough of a background to easily qualify to write ANY style of music that they need, not just 'Smooth Jazz'!

I want to encourage them not to take the easy way out and just use a third party music service but, instead have a steady flow of original music written specifically for their audience.

     Anybody with me?

Any other instrumentals?

Hi all! I just got word that "February (Mid Winter Nigh Mix) will be playing soon. Sounds like Brian is getting more time to spend on Local Forecast music. Glad to see he still considers me. Thanks for the support!
Whatever happened to them playing your new song, "Florida Sun (Sieve Oichre Sunset) Mix?

Good question! It's available for TWC/Brian to pick up but I'm not sure if they didn't think it fit or just haven't had time. The piano that Nick remixed at the tail end of this remix is just incredible and would fit perfectly on Lot8's. Anyone who has someone's ear at TWC. please request!! :-D

Hey everyone!

I submitted a track this month. First time in awhile. If you hear something that sounds like me, it might be! Working on new stuff. That to all of you guys keeping up on this. I hope they continue to accept instrumentals and independent music. :-)

-Matt

Good to hear. :) I believe the vast majority in this community agree with the instrumental preference. Also wanted to say that the "Yet Unknown Weeping Guitar Mix" is one of my favorites.

Maybe I'm missing the songs when they play, but I'm not hearing as many tacky songs that have a word about the weather in it this month. I just thought that was a little too cute.

Well thanks for the support! Yet Unknown (Weeping Guitar Mix) is one of my favorite track remixes as well. Eddie and I had a ton of fun writing that one. I do like to go with themes and songs and since I'm a weather buff/background I tend to write with that in mind but I like to be more cryptic
I love Yet Unknown myself. One of my favorites from the August/September 2010 playlist. Let us know if TWC decides to play your music. AFAIK, they're still playing instrumentals and independent artists so maybe you'll make it considering your music was used before. BTW, what is this song and is it possible if we can hear it? Like a temporary stream?

Yes. I figure they have their hands full and the music is the least of their worries right now. I even noticed a live feed of TWC now on Weather Underground now that TWC bought them!

The track is a another great remix renamed "Florida Sun (Sieve Ochre's Sunset Mix)". Some incredible piano and feel in this one. I'll try to put a sample on soundcloud if I get some time. Meanwhile stay safe if y'all are on the East Coast!

There's a song that sounds a lot like Trance Fury, which happens to be playing at 5:38 AM EDT... that sounds a lot like Trance Fury. Can't pin the name on it though.

That's what I thought as well...

Don't think it was me. I wish. I've always made suggestions and if they get a chance to put it on the list then I am appreciative!

I was in contact with TWC a couple of weeks ago and he was putting together the playlist. I asked him to consider New York City Winter (or any other track for that matter). Maybe it snuck in. trying to get some more airplay. ;) After all, they should be pushing the songs on their theweatherchannelmusic.com site!

Hope everyone is well. After all this snow I am ready for spring and continuing my remix album. Working late in the studio tonight. WOOHOO!   :thrilled:

Actually just got word that it IS playing on the overnight hour!   I am so appreciative of their support! Not sure if he wants to be named but if you're on this forum, thanks much!

TWC Artist Chat / Belated Happy New Year from Trance Fury
« on: January 06, 2010, 03:19:32 PM »
Hey everyone,

Had a few minutes to finally stop by and say "Happy New Year" albeit a few days late. I want to personally thank everyone for supporting me on TWC in 2009 and it made it the best year ever for me and my music! I hope you will get to hear more tracks soon as I've written and asked if they could air "New York City Winter" which I think would be great for January/February as we all know it's been a rough one so far!

Lots of big things coming for me in 2010 and I just wanted to share a bit to let you know you can expect a remix album of a lot of a my old favorites. You can also listen to my free podcast, grab a few download from ReverbNation, and follow me along the way to get updates, etc.

Thanks again!

To me right now it doesn't matter. It's about time! Over 10 years we've been waiting for a local forecast on DirecTV!

Hey all!

Just wanted to drop a note and say keep an ear out on MTV and E!. I licensed my track "Guilt" to them. I have no idea when and where they'll use it but it should appear soon and can get played in any number of shows. I am hoping to pop back up on The TWC playlist again soon. I would love for them to pick up "New York City Winter". This is a great track to play for the fall/winter playlists :-)

Just an FYI, if you haven't seen some of your favorite artists that is because they aren't done loading the music yet. They were under a time crunch to get the site up and available and more music is scheduled to start loading next week.
