General Discussion / Re: 8.8 Earthquake Hits Chile
« on: March 03, 2010, 07:37:41 PM »
You know what amazes me most about this earthquake? It was so strong that it actually changed the rotation speed of the planet, making our day shorter by 1.26 milliseconds!  :o

It's microseconds. ;) It reduced our day by 0.000000126 seconds, if I remember the amount of 0s correctly.

I can still confirm that West Plains, Missouri, has a 4000 as of February 4th. I should note that I see zero degradation.

If you do it right the first time, you'll have no need to edit text boxes. <_< And that's being worked on for version 4 if I read some of the forum posts correctly.

GIMP =  unless you have patience.
I love Paint.NET...it's SO much simpler than GIMP and there are plugins and other features to make it have the same effects as GIMP, just in a much more user-friendly interface. And GIMP takes forever to start for me since I have a TON of fonts.

Wow...this is bad. I knew Eboni looked familiar from somewhere but I could NOT figure out where I've seen her. Ugh, my memory fails.

All of my thoughts and prayers go out to any people who have been and will be affected by this.

Hai. I haven't really been in the Stove in a while...so I 'spose I should update some stuff.

1. I am sick of snow. I will explode on contact if a snowflake lands on me.
2. I learned CSS sprites. Don't EVER do it if you are like me and don't have any patience.
3. I made a cute little radar website. It uses shiny stuff.
And there is more stuff that I should put here, but I don't feel like typing it. :P Hope to be more active in the coming months.

TWC Today News / Re: New Addition To The Administration
« on: February 14, 2010, 11:33:21 PM »
Stephen does behind the scenes website/forums stuff. By you saying "Kyle hardly ever visits here" is saying "Gary hardly ever visits here," which is true... I doubt they're going to demote Administrators like that. 5 is just a number. Why can't you just get over it and accept it? Why have you and some other users become such assholes lately? Sorry that I have to be blunt like that, but it's the truth.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with the last sentence. The admins do a great job running this site, and you are making Mount Everest out of a piece of dirt. And also, we all have lives outside of TWC Today. I know Kyle has been going through a big time in his life, and it should be more than acceptable that he isn't here 24/7.

My (and many others') definitions of a forum administrator NOWHERE includes "be online 24/7" or "always be there for your users." Sure, even if they might let a few users down with their obligations, they're people and they have lives to live...and I'll leave it at that.

Good night.

Hey...I'm trying to redeem an iTunes Gift Card and it says that my network connection is timing out even though it's fine on Apple's website and my iPod is letting me download apps. Is this happening to anyone else? I managed to get to the Redeem page and type in my code, but it just won't let me redeem.

Hey there!

There is no true guide on how to make TWC art. And honestly, your second post won't get you anywhere in asking for help; I will say it was slightly rude. However, I will guide you to the programs I use to make my art.

I use Inkscape to get the base of most of my graphics. Then, I use Paint.NET to make any minor cleanups. Then, I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 to fine-tune the graphics, like make minor changes to the colors.

Sorry, but there are no "easy" steps to creating TWC art; it can take some advanced thought processes and some elbow grease. It can and will be hard work making TWC art, which is why we want to showcase it here. Other than what I've said, I can't help you.

TWC Today News / Re: New Addition To The Administration

@Zach, Molly: Having 3 admins was great. Having 4 is greater. If something happens to the forum while 3 of the admins are away, the fourth will be able to be alerted by a user of the forum. And even if they are inactive, we can tweet most of them to get their attention. If not that, they're almost always online in the IRC channel.

I think none of the admins should be removed. Even if they're not here, they've always done an amazing job while they are here. So I think that this was a great move. I have more to say, but I'll stop there.
