I like it a lot better, actually. I can't figure out how to get my clips in widescreen, nor am I redoing nearly 600 videos.

They shouldn't be widescreen. If they recorded in 4:3 and the picture that comes into the TV itself is 4:3 (not if the TV stretches it to fill the screen), you should leave it be. 4:3 doesn't equal widescreen. Widescreen equals 16:9. The only way to get TWC in 16:9 is to get TWC HD. Otherwise, the picture is squished, and for lack of a better word, awkward.

I have one question...why do you stretch your videos to 16:9? I know the videos are recorded in 4:3 but you use the yt:stretch=16:9 tag. I don't mean anything by this, but it looks weird. :hmm:

TWC Classics News / Re: Trimming down content
« on: May 03, 2010, 10:56:41 PM »
it's a saying in college - "freshman 15" refers to the amount of weight one gains throughout the first year in college from excessive alcohol drinking.  :whistling: :P
Alcohol= the imperfect solution to life's problems. ;)

PSA much? ;) Haha...sorry to go off-topic.

Just so none of my loyal visitors freak out, I will be trimming down the content within the next month or so. Thanks to generous contributions from fans, the site has ballooned to nearly 600 pages! As you might imagine, maintaining it has become a real pain for one person with a full-time job. It's also gotten to the point where I've posted almost everything I have, which was never my intention. Also, I haven't watched TWC with any regularity since 2003 or so. While I do enjoy going through recent footage (I often find good songs I've never heard before), I often get questions about recent things and I don't have a clue what they're talking about. :P So what I plan to do is cycle through content (video and images anyway) every week or so. Much like what Charles did when he was around.

I understand...much of the content on there is valuable, but some of it is just—odd. To say the least. So with some of the content, I wouldn't mind to see it go. But that's just my opinion.

My school had a FEMA shelter added on two years ago (my 6th grade year). During construction, things were quite messy. :P So many false fire alarms. One day, we had 3 in less than one hour. Wonderful.

Additionally, the locker room for us was being remodeled over the summer before 7th grade and until January of my 7th grade year. It was all gutted out...it took forever to get it done. False fire alarms happened then, too. In the meantime, we changed out in the weightroom. It's very, VERY dusty in there. And it smells like rust.

And by the way, if you can't tell from this blog, I hate seeing kids on leashes.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

OMG, look at all those tornado warnings!

TWC would cover them, but nope! We have to watch a movie, which is obviously more important than lives. >_>

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Wow, I can't believe what I'm seeing.  TWC is showing a movie when the following has occurred or is ongoing:

  • Three people dead and at least 25 injured from an earlier tornado in Arkansas
  • Significant damage reported in Missouri from tornadoes with no idea about deaths or injuries yet
  • SPC upgraded Arkansas to a high risk for severe weather, the highest category possible
  • Numerous tornado warnings are currently in effect for Arkansas, eastern Missouri, and western Illinois

The worst part is that this risk for severe weather isn't over.  Who knows what will happen this weekend?  I'm just as upset as Jim Cantore. :club:  I hope and pray that the local media and the NWS do their jobs, because it seems that TWC doesn't understand the dire need right now.

Sure as heck I'm glad we got coverage for our situation to the nation, INCLUDING satellite. But I want them to get national coverage too! Arkansas = largely rural areas. Rural areas = more satellite. Satellite = no dual feed. It's somewhat of a paradox, and that's unfair. :censored:. They're not TWC anymore. They're "The Kinda-Sorta Weather/Weather Movie/Trying to Please Non-Existent Viewers and Said Viewers are Likely Under a Tornado Warning and Don't Know Much About It Because They Have Satellite and They Have to Watch a Movie on a Channel That's Supposed to Be a Weather Channel." Fits them better.

Contributions / Re: TWC Classics design contest
« on: April 30, 2010, 11:12:36 PM »
Wow, no one is interested? Usually when Martin or Jesse have a contest to design a logo, they get flooded with submissions! :o
Give it a few days.... I posted a forum logo design contest and so far no submissions... Don't feel bad. Also, not all of the TWCC forums people have made it over here yet too... There's a lot of factors.

Might I suggest a few less specifics... like for instance, you want rounded corners and NO boxes... That may turn a lot of people off who don't know how to do rounded corners, as it's a bit of CSS work to get right in most browsers. Rethinking might get some attention.

Hopefully this helps a bit...

I'm willing to take a stab at it, but obligations in real life prevent me from doing so soon. Tomorrow and next weekend are taken, maybe even more weekdays after that. (Gee, thanks, school trips.) I'm sure to be free on May 25th and beyond. (I'll be out of school then.) I already have the peeled sticker down in Inkscape, since I'm on a quite low budget...as in $0.00. :P Will work in my freetime, but that won't be much.

Man, I can't wait to find out the rating of the tornado. I'm guessing at least EF-2.

Anywho, my AIM's not working. Is it working for anyone else? =\

EEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!! Well, I'm in for a long night (Patrick can confirm this).

I'm under the following:
  • Moderate risk of severe weather
  • 15% chance of tornadoes with hatched area
  • 30% chance of large hail with hatched area
  • 45% chance of severe wind

Ickkkkkkk. :P I've included several images, 4 of which are SPC forecasts, the other is the latest radar image. Definitely won't be pretty tonight.
I'll just go ahead and confirm it by saying you're under a tornado warning now.  Spotters have confirmed a tornado on the ground with significant damage reported along its path.  It looks like it'll just miss your town to the north based on how the rotation couplet is moving on radar.  Anyone in your area needs to take shelter immediately!

Reports:
  • Large tornado
  • Wedge tornado
  • 1+" hail
  • Debris falling (a la tree limbs)
  • Roof torn off a shut-down museum

All just from Twitter and my dad (who was in Willow Springs). Unbelieveable...at night and a rain-wrapped tornado. If you were watching TWC, the damage path was ~1mi wide and had quite a long track. Dr. Forbes was really concerned with it. My dad is safe. I forced him to get into a shelter before it got there. ;) By phone. Because I'm THAT good.
