General Discussion / The Podcast Thread
« on: April 27, 2018, 08:47:08 PM »
I'm surprised that I haven't seen a thread like this on here yet so I thought I start one now.

Welcome to The Podcast Thread! Podcast suggestions, plug your own ones, etc. They are all here.

I wanna begin with two podcasts:
  • The Weather Channel Podcast
This one was launched last month and currently has five episodes with the fifth coming out today. The third episode talks about the history of TWC itself. They are kinda long but I'm checking it out now and would be worthwhile.
  • Public Media Daily
This is my own podcast that focuses on the latest news inside the Public Media industry. News, programming changes, birthdays, etc. from CPB to PBS, APT, APTS, NPR, PRI, APM, PRX, BBC World Service and more. This one is available on Messy Bun, Apple Podcasts, Player FM, RadioPublic, Stitcher, Castbox and everywhere else. I'm also trying to get it on TuneIn, iHeartRadio and Google Play Music.

And in terms of weather-related, I also recommend Whatever The Weather from WLS-TV - ABC 7 Chicago.

Why is the front porch still open?

I think its because this forum doesn't have as much active members anymore.

TWC Fan Art / Re: Evan's Art
« on: September 19, 2017, 12:05:57 AM »
It's been over 5 years since I've posted some fanart, this is kind of a "relaunch" of Weatherscan in 1080i HD that I've been tinkering with for the past couple of months. I also have a red "severe weather alert" version that's mostly but not quite done.

Though, spoiler alert, that picture in the background isn't from here, rather I took it along the Potomac in 2011.

That looks amazing! They should go with your look for an HD rebrand, if they ever do so.

Programming and Graphics / Re: Anyone want more live programming?
« on: September 10, 2017, 08:53:21 PM »
Sorry to bring this up now but I do want more live programming on The Weather Channel. If it can't be 24/7, then at least every day from 5am to Midnight. I want more weather and less live programming.

I think adding your own image to replace the WeatherStar 4000+ image would be very nice to see.

Plus, I think businesses and maybe even apartment complex clubhouses can benefit from this kind of service.

Any way to add an option to create our own messages at the botttom in a scrolling ticker? Would love that option.

Develop the PowerPoint TV one so that I can use it as if it was a Zap2it Program Guide channel. I would use it very much if developed into a program on a website.

Anybody heard about how there's 13 zodiac signs now instead of 12? The new one is Ophiuchus which screws up everyone's signs. So instead of being a Sagittarius, I'm now a Scorpio. :dunno:
