first day of work at Freddy's:

pretty much awesome - i met up with the manager around 4pm, he clocked me in and gave my a pack of papers, W4 papers, the Employee Handbook, and General Information....after that we began my training - 5ish.

They put me on cashier for the time being, so for the first 5 minutes while there weren't any guest (we don't call them customers) he taught me some basics, eventually he got his hands tied up, and guests starting coming in - i didn't really freak and i did what he told me to do - a few stuff i couldn't really but screw up on, because well...i wasn't taught everything!

before i knew it - it was dinner time and families began pouring in...haha now i freaked. I was the only cashier working (we only have two cash registers), so the line grew pretty quickly...i began asking my co-workers for help as my manager Steve, was busy. they helped me out, and a few of the orders - i continued to screw up on....but hey, it's not my fault!!! i wasn't taught everything, i kinda learned on my own. hahaha

and before i even knew it, closing hour was already here (10pm) it took us an hour to clean up and head out. i met pretty awesome co-workers (there were only 4 tonight) and i don't know who'll be working tomorrow - i do no i'm suppose to go in at 5pm - closing.

did anyone catch day planner today, i forgot what hour it was, probably the 10 o'clock hour (central) but kevin was talking about the mid-western radar and two ladies walked infront of the green screen, he was not standing at it...they soon moved out of the way and he stepped in.

Congrats on the job, AL :D

What a night I had.  I left my house around 3:30, because I had a meeting at work at 4.  Everytime before I go to work, I check the weather.  It was muggy, with a tornado watch til 8.  Okay..whatever.  So, I go to work, and during the meeting, it starts to rain..whoo.  Then..it's just cloudy.  Then around 8 PM, it starts getting kind of dark..okay.  Then, we notice street lights coming on.  I was taking an order, and all of the sudden I hear tornado sirens going off..and all of the sudden, my phone goes off.  Couldn't answer it..b/c I was dealing with customers.  Then, we got a call for one of the managers saying GO TO THE COOLER...so.. after going outside, me and another employee went out there, the wind picked up..and very vivid cloud-to-ground lightning.  So, we go to the cooler.  Well..then i get a call on my phone from a friend of mine saying that there is a tornado in RI, then another call saying that there is a funnel at the airport..YIKES.

So, after that ends, we turn the lights back on.  Boss calls and says McDonald's parking lot is flooded, so we will probably get busy.  And we did.  Then... we slow down a bit, and I am back on dishes, and all of the sudden I heard more sirens (this was like 1.5 hours later)  I go outside..and all I see is lightning, no rain, and the wind as CALM as could be.  (There really is a calm before the storm).  So, Boss calls and says GO TO THE COOLEr..well, of course, I didn't.  I went out the door.  So I told the manager I was with to come out here, and all the sudden I said HOLY SHIT!  I could have sworn I saw a funnel cloud.  I wasn't 100% sure, but it sure did look like it.  So not even 2 or 3 minutes later,my uncle (General Manager) calls the store and I answer, and he says that there was a tornado reported on the ground at TPC (a golf course..which is 10 minutes away from where work is), and I was like I KNEW IT.  I COULD HAEV SWORN I SEEN A FUNNEL.  So, I definitely did see the beginnings of that tornado.

Soo, I headed home, and there is MAJOR flooding in my neighborhood.  I have a nice pond in my back yard.  Tonight was exciting, but would have been more exciting if I wasn't working :D.

So..point of story, there was 2 tornado warnings out tonight, which has never happened here to my knowledge, since I can remember.

Sorry for the book.  If you even read it, THANK YOU :D

wow that must have been an exciting night! i probably would have like stayed outside and watch it form hahaha.

the last time we've had a tornado warning for San Antonio (Bexar County) was forever and a day ago. :p. - though in your case, it was an actual tornado. awesome!

i believe it was back in 2005 - it was during the overnight hours on a school night, i was obviously asleep...and was awakened to loud thunder, consistent lightning, and heavy rain. i decided to check up on the weather channel, and saw there was a tornado warning in effect for bexar county - it soon gave some specific locations and simply said "a funnel cloud was reported by trained spotters near the city of Terrel Hills and Alamo Heights"...or something along that line. shortly after that the power blew out, but nothing was confirmed. haha

the font is called Eurostile

its kinda similar to the font they used on the 2005-2008 weather center package.
The 2005 PM Edition logo also used Eurostile, or at least a font very similar to it.

really? hmm that interesting. it may have been the box "Editi" was in that threw me off. (yes i intentionally left out the "on" in pm edition because thats were the box ends  :P

i never really noticed how it does in fact look like an eurostile font.

i'll post the blank afternoon lowerthird later for those who wanted that and not the PSD.

A Time Warner buyout would likely lead to a future CNN/TWC partnership. "yes"

That's probably what would happen.  whenever I watch TWC now, I feel like I am watching CNN, because I feel like the graphics are so similar.  Also, last night, Alexandra Steele mentioned a happening weather event as breaking news.  I've never heard them say breaking news, on TWC, before, until last night.

A CNN/TWC partnership is probably what will happen.

thats because TWC's new lowerthirds are CNN's old lowerthirds  :P

is there any updates to this buy out?

well, i had a job interview at Freddy's Steakhouse at 3:30 - i decided to go in a little bit earlier, i first was introduced to the Assistant Manager, we talked for 10-15 minutes - he then submitted my application to the GM, she came out 15 minutes later and we talked...they gave me a little background information about freddy's...like where it originated (wichita)...the owner who is 82 and shows up to grand openings of many freddy's, etc.

all in all, the interview was great. the GM was fairly friendly, so where the other employees, and thats the kind of environment i like.

she isn't sure what position she wants me in front or back (front = cashier, cleaning tables, floors, helping customers, etc | back = cooking, unpacking, calling out order numbers, etc) but I'll find out Monday (orientation day, and the day I start)

I'm starting off between $6.50 & $7.00 an hour - working afternoon/evening shifts 4pm-11pm. pay is every 2 weeks, starting thursdays, just so happens that yesterday was the end of their two weeks.

so i'm pretty stoked.

not a lot of people i know use aim, i dunno why - but it's either you have text messaging around here or you're out of luck talking with your friends, other than the obviously calling.

but yeah my plan for text messaging is also unlimited.

Pfft...Texting... It's cheaper to use AIM!

true. but aim is not mobile, well it is. but it charges you to use AIM on your phone (or it does on my plan).
