As I kind of suspected, since Jim is out of the studio so often, the new WC with Alexandra and Jim would need a third host to keep some regularity in the show so they don't have fill-ins all the time. Sure enough, Kevin Robinson announced on Twitter today that he is going to be that third host.

Ratings generally tend to depend on the time of day rather than the OCMs for the most part, I would say. YWT and WV get the best ratings because people tune in to TWC in the morning to catch their morning weather. PM Edition gets good ratings because that's when people are coming home from work and school and want to know the weather for the rest of the day, and the the former EE timeslot gets slightly decent ratings as people check in to get a glimpse at the next day's forecast. Abrams & Bettes will now get to enjoy their best chance at good ratings ever now that they're moving to YWT.

Only during hurricane coverage would any TWC segment compete with primetime programming. WC being stuck in the evening doesn't help their ratings as mornings do get the most viewers.

I know that Jim Cantore and Alexandra Steele are doing WC now. I don't know what will happen to Samantha and Todd yet, but I imagine someone else here knows.

Jim Cantore, Alexandra Steele, and Kevin Robinson host Weather Center from 7-10 PM ET.
Paul Goodloe and Nicole Mitchell host Weather Center from 10-1 AM ET.
Samantha Mohr hosts PM Edition Weekend West Coast from 11 PM - 2 AM ET on weekends, and Todd Santos is a fill-in.

Havn't been able to catch Weather Center yet, but what is Kevin Robinson's roll. Is he just taking turns with Alexandra and Jim ( as in Alex does one segment, Jim does one, and Kevin does one?) Just curious.

He's a co-host with Alex while Jim is in the field this week, but if Adam's role on the show last week is any indication, Kevin will go down to doing only one segment per hour once Jim gets back. We'll see, though.

He was off last night, and he was filling in on YWT this morning (and possibly for the rest of the week). Kevin's one of the regular fill-ins for YWT, so usually when you don't see him on WC, he's doing some fill-in work. :yes:

Why don't they show "Six degrees of weather," the Extreme-O-Meter, and "Now You Know" anymore? I really liked those segments.
I have a feeling those segments were made specifically for Abrams and Bettes. If that's not the case, maybe they didn't rate well in TWC's eyes. :dunno:

I saw the WC opener again tonight and it was back to the way it was redebut from March this year, they must be experimenting with it or something. :thinking:

yeah, evidently it failed last week.
either that or they accidentally placed it over the air...they're probably adding shots of alexandra & jim like the original a&b open, who knows.

I did like the new WC opener. I doubt they would add shots of Alex and Jim (though it would be better!). Wish they used more of the new opener.

As much as I love Jim and Alex I think that if they add shots of them to the opener it will take away from the old A&B thing. IMO :)

Yeah, but this time, I think there's validity to having the Sea World and Busch Gardens folks on. TWC's showing "March of the Penguins" Friday night. Granted, they haven't yet had the flightless birds on, but still. Maybe I'm speaking from a news producer stand point, and not really a viewer's? But, even as a viewer I like that kind of nature/wildlife stuff.

Correct. You can catch Kevin doing a live report at Sea World Orlando during WUWA and YWT.
