Danielle Banks? She is not really new. She's been @ twc for a few months now and has done on camera work occasionally.
-
her name is Danielle Banks
She is a current Radio Meteorologist with TWC but has been on-air for a short while.
-
It was the first time I've seen her on. I don't remember her being on before.

She's been making very sporadic appearances on air for at least the past year or so. Before that, she made frequent appearances on weather.com forecasts.
-
She's also a radio OCM. She's like a freelancer, appearing on TV not as often. I like her, though. :)
-
I thought she wasn't a meteorologist?

So to be an fill-in OCM, you don't have to have a degree? :o
-
absolutely not. you just gotta know people... :P

No I think it just says "the weather channel"

I remember seeing her on a Saturday afternoon for a wild day of tornadoes in Yazoo City, MS. She was on with Adam Berg, and she did a very credible job on-air that afternoon. I haven't seen her since, but others on the forums have on occasions.
-
Well I'm certainly glad they fired all those old-timers a while back. I mean, who wants to get their forecast from an expert they know and trust. Let's fire all the experts and hire nobody's off the street.

Former "OCMs" like Dave Schwartz and Jeanetta Jones weren't meteorologists, but nobody seemed to complain when they were on the air. I don't see how this is any different.
Danielle Banks did complete (http://www.weather.com/aboutus/radio/personnel/Danielle-Banks.html) the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University; this is the same program that Dave Schwartz completed.

That school has an excellent broadcast meteorology program. They have an event there once a year in September called the Southeast Severe Storms Symposium, that I attend. It's real fun for weather enthusiasts.

You don't need a Meteorology degree if you're good enough as an OCM. All it takes are presentation and people skills. It does look better if you have the degree, but it's not a requirement for a lot of media stations.

Danielle is a good weather presenter, but anyone notices that she has a habit of rocking back and forth towards and away from the camera when she's standing in front of the green screen?

Marshall Seese and Kristen Dodd also took a similar route, as well as some others.
