Heartbreaking news.  Dave was easily a favorite of mine. I watched him all the time back in the EEWC days, and even more so when he moved to days in 2006.

I'm grateful TWC brought him back so we got to enjoy more of his presentations for at least two years. He will be greatly missed by all.

After Jim Cantore Dave was my favorite. He was so funny on air. This place always talked about Dave so I had to see what he was about. I became a fan of his soon after. I would wait to record stuff until Dave came on. We'll miss "my friend"     We should pin this topic as a fan memorial of Dave Schwartz.

I'm just now commenting to this really awful news. (I saw this news online Sunday morning, but never thought of posting here until now.)

Dave...in my opinion, the best person we saw on set in the last couple years.  After his return, Dave kept treating us like open-minded weather students (and life students) and engaged us viewers in a professional, thoughtful, an often witty manner.  Earlier in the year when they moved Dave to a solo block (although he would still appear often on Weather Underground later in the evening.)  I thought the network screwed him and just put the old man alone.  However, Dave was just as enlightening, engaging and easy to listen to solo as he was paired up with anybody.  Running a couple hours solo, without any live help at the lab (they always used early morning taped lab segments) and without usually any live reporters, Dave was amazing was keeping the tone light, and letting us inside his world of fascination of the weather.  (I remember one afternoon back in May on his WCL, he spent a good couple minutes showing us the satellite imagery where a severe weather system was setting up in the Midwest.  The clouds coming from the east north of the warm front, the clouds coming from the south-south of the warm front, and the clouds moving from the west behind the cold front...almost every day Dave would have something small...yet neat...to point out to us viewers.

One of the very few things The Weather Channel has done right in the last 8 years was brining this lovable man back to our screens.  It's just a real shame we did not get to enjoy him being on longer.

Rest easy, my friend, you'll be missed.

In case you haven't seen it yet, I created a tribute to Dave with several videos clips showing his knowledge and personality. You can see it here:

I watched more of the TWC's tributes to him. For the most part, everyone was very respectable and calm, but they really should have just let Reynolds Wolff have the day off because he was incredibly annoying. You've got Mike, Alex, Paul, Maria and Kelly all talking about Dave in a more calm and respectable manner and then you have this uptempo loudmouth talking about his death in a way that makes it sound like he's just going through the motions and having no genuine connection to the words coming out of his mouth. Thank god Kelly was there to at least have some sort of genuine words. But jesus christ, Reynolds should NOT have been hosting that day.

It's just so sad to think TWC brought him back 2 years ago and he'd be gone not too long after. I truly wish he was on longer. I will never forget him and Alex Wilson together on Weather Center Live. They were one of the best pairs I've seen in a long time. I don't think you could've picked a perfect pair but those two. Their personalities just complemented each other so well on the air.

I hardly ever watch TWC anymore, simply because I'm not sure if I will get weather coverage or the shows, when I'm looking for the former and not the latter, but now I wished I had watched more now that he's gone. :(
