I will truly miss Dave. He was on air as recently as about a month ago, I believe. So glad TWC brought him back, and he got another few years to do what he did best. Godspeed, "my friend."

RIP Dave! His personality, passion and knowledge of weather was what got me hooked to TWC, and the reason why I started watching TWC years ago. He was the face of TWC and had a personality that no other meteorologist could replace. He got even people who weren't into weather, hooked into weather. He was genuine, comical and smart. RIP my friend, fuck cancer!

Truly sad news to hear today. He always had a great, humorous way of presenting the weather to viewers, that's one of things I'll miss the most about Dave.

R.I.P my friend. :(

I loved Dave. He always made you feel like you were right there with him when he was on air, and it was like he personally knew you. His way of presenting the weather is something that can't be replicated.
Dave, you will be missed, my friend.  :(

Oh no! Dave was one of my favorite OCMs and I really enjoyed the way he presented on-air forecasts with a little sense of humor on the side. My thoughts are with his family and friends during this very difficult and emotional time. R.I.P. Mr. Schwartz. :(

Wow, this just ruined my night. I'm honestly feeling very emotional right now seeing this.  Dave Schwartz was perhaps my favorite OCMs at The Weather Channel. My most potent memory of TWC was coming home from school everyday and watching him talk about the weather. It makes me teary because of how confident he was; knowing he'd come back and beat cancer. My thoughts are with him, his loved ones, and all who've been affected by his loss. I'm not sure if The Weather Channel will be the same without him.

RIP Dave Schwartz.

According to Paul Goodloe and numerous other sources, Dave passed away today after his long and hard battle with cancer. Thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and co-workers in this difficult time.
Well I am so sorry to hear this. My mother told me earlier this morning. My deepest prayers, sympathy and condolences to his family and friends. I hate sickness and death!! :(

Dave really knew how to communicate with people on-air.  It's not like the banter/babble of today.  The man had substance and he was genuine.  He was one of the few that really stood out to me on TWC over the years.  I was so excited to seem him back on the network.

The article said that he worked with the network for 22 years.  He actually started at TWC in 1991.  There was the few year break in there during the "Sad Time" when people were being let go left and right.

Dave was my second favorite on-air guy at TWC (Cantore No. 1). I first watched him overnights in the 1990s and immediately liked his demeanor. The man was very down-to-earth and it reverberated while he was on the air. It was like being in a room with him holding a conversation as he told you what was going on and how things were happening. He definitely helped me appreciate weather a lot. His sense of humor was a plus.

There aren't many OCMs like him today so let's be thankful that we all got to enjoy him while we could.

I'm sorry to hear that he passed away!

He was one of my favorite OCM's.

I still remember when he anounced about new music begain around midnight back in April, 3 1993.
I also still remember when he had Lewis Black on TWC.

He will be missed!

This is so sad, I was hoping he'd beat it again this time. He was one of my "must see" OCMs going back to his early days with the network. Something that set him apart was he would sometimes use props to help tell the weather story. I would often see him doing the late night hours during the summer when I was out of school back in the 1990s.

I was coming home to Florida from a road trip to Virginia when I saw the news, very sad. :( Dave was one of the few personalities I enjoyed watching growing up, and I definitely enjoyed his personality and felt upset when he was laid off. I was glad to see him back two years ago as well, but I felt as if he wasn't his old self on the air in recent years.
I've gone off on a journey to be a moderator at another forum, but this place will forever remain home for me~
