Bill Keneely deployed to cover Edouard
« on: August 05, 2008, 07:18:37 AM »
In a surprise move, TWC has deployed Bill Keneely as a field OCM to cover the landfall; he just joined them on the phone as he's en route to where they expect to be the exact landfall point.

I know Bill reported on a Nor'easter up in his neck of the woods recently, but I never expected to see him out in a tropical system again.

I didn't expect him to not report in a tropical storm again, but it is a surprise to hear him out there.  Have yet to see him.

Interesting, though :D.

Edit:  7:30 CT, saw Bill live :)

I don't understand how you guys are surprised. Bill has spent many years covering the tropics.  :dunno:

Yes, he has.  But how often to you see him, not very.

I enjoy his reports from the field, and hope he does it more often.

Your missing my point. Until the last couple of years it was FREQUENT. VERY FREQUENT. So as a guy whose been there and done that more times than you can count on your hands and feet, how is it surprising to see him out in the field?

It is surprising for those of us who've never seen him out in the field (like me).

And how long have you been watching TWC?

About 2000-ish, although I didn't really start watching very often until about 2003 or 2004.

Then you've seen Bill in the field before. He was here during Isabel in 03, and I quite vividly remember him in Katrina in 05. And thats just what I remember off the top of my head-I'm certain there's more.

I thought you discovered it in 1995? That's what you said somewhere else.

But, as Gary said, Bill reported during hurricanes countless times since 2000.

I didn't really watch Isabel coverage that much. And Bill was in the studio for Katrina coverage (

I don't recall saying that.

He spent some time in the field during Katrina too. I vividly remember it.

I'm saying it's surprising because it seemed that he was done with field duty for good, especially with tropical systems.

I can see where your coming from, but I can't imagine why TWC would've permanently shelved Bill. He's awfully good at covering the tropics. It would be a very stupid move on TWC's part to never again use him in covering the tropics.
