I dont see it, but what actually was her reason for leaving? I really like Betty, wish i could have seen her last show! TWC is really Getting on my nerves with all of the OCM's that are leaving (forcefully, or on there own choice)

Her contract expired. And I'm pretty sure someone uploaded it on YT now.

Could someone post the link? I would love to see that :P

Pretty much got the Steve Lyons treatment, they didn't renew her contract. It's much more legal for them to let them go at the end of their contracts than to sign a new one and fire them in the middle of it.

TWC is a business that will do what it wants no matter what we say.  You don't realize how seriously cut-throat broadcast meteorology can be.  It has the worst job security in the field, because it's all driven by ratings and money.  Yes, it's disheartening to us fans, but there's nothing we can do about it.  Every business is like that these days, especially in this current economy where money is so tight.  I hope Betty can find a new job soon.

Now, can we all please stop arguing about this issue?  I'm getting sick of seeing these debates coming up again and again with every layoff.

Thank you. This is how television and entertainment is period. This happens all the time at the Big Four, cable news networks and local stations worldwide. It's all about the bottom line and ratings.

As long as the idiots at NBC own this show it will continue to be a loser and a laughingstock. From them pushing Abrams to show cleavage, to the unnecessary Al, to the inclusion of the "we-missed it by a while-CNBC-Commentators" and the so-called weather related movies...it is all now NBC related which means more cleavage, more commercials, probably an overloaded cache of new "blondes" and the weather firmly planted in second place. It's pathetic. I wonder how long shareholders for NBC are going to let this group of can't shoot straight cowboys ransack the town before they elect a sheriff. :club:

First off, thank you for posting here Cheryl. I'm assuming you're the one who worked for TWC. B)

You hit the nail right in the head there. I couldn't agree more with every statement. Heck, I'm surprised they didn't change it to the Abrams News Channel. :P And I'm not trying to start another argument here, but The Weather Channel just isn't a weather channel anymore.

Wow, I was gone when this happened. That's very sad, considering that I was beginning to like Betty. I didn't like her very much at first, but her personality became rather captivating. I'll miss her.

There are a lot of Cheryls out there, but if that was Cheryl Lemke posting then that would sure be a treat. She sure knows what she's talking about--that's for sure.

Betty Davis was the best weather reporter you had.  She had the energy, personallity, looks, and flavor.
It is amazing that the twc would let her go.  She was the best you had. Something does not sound right. Now I see another reporter and I say Wow here we go with the nonsense. But yet the powers that be always claim they are looking for the best. Not really they are looking for weak, non confident minorities.  When you have pride and honor and all the other intangibles the power structure is absolutely threatened. However, God sees it all and the evil and wrong decision makers will all have their day of reconning.

I don't believe in just giving lip service to my disgust. I am through watching TWC. If I do watch...it will be to see which advertisers/products I will refrain from purchasing. There is always a way to respond to something you dislike (i.e. the departure of Betty Davis) via your purchasing habits. I will make a list of the products...and make sure I don't purchase them in the future. There is enough diversity of products/services in America...therefore, I will still enjoy the fruit of my buying habits...I just won't buy products that support the TWC.

The hits keep on coming with OCMs and "behind the scene employees!" @ TWC! Expect to hear more resignations and terminations in weeks to come soon! It's a wonder why I see more repeats of Storm Stories, Cantore Stories etc. in prime time??  :hammer:

First Eboni Deon went, now BD is gone. VB is the only Black female left on there. <_<
Hakeem: What's up, Jetsons!
Frank Mitchell: Jetsons?
Hakeem: Yeah, you and George got the same haircut.

hence her somewhat "job security" for now. She's a good meteorologist, yes, but I think they're keeping her to fill the "black female" quota.

Yeah, you are right. What a shame. VB is still one of the remaining links to TWC's golden era.
